Wow! I am really not a fan of composite photos, but this is very good...!

I hope that the stewards don't take away Russel's points because of the tyre screw-up. That was a team error, so any penalty should only go to the team...

I was gutted for him when he got that puncture...

go George Russel! He has been bumbling around at the back of the grid in an awful car for the past 2 seasons, but this weekend he has the chance to show what he is made of... Set the fastest time in both free practice 1 and free practice 2! There is huge pressure on his shoulders, but this is his chance to show what he is made of. First time he has sat in the Mercedes, and he beats his team-mate in both sessions... Wow!

Saw a video on youtube today. Can't remember the guy's name, but probably other people had access to the same source. There was actually a drone filming the tower where the first cables let loose . Ah - Scot Manley is his name! Not totally sober right now, but who's asking...?

Incredible footage of the cables giving way, and frame-by-frame analysis... Worth a watch!

This true, but Arecibo was the largest *radar* telescope in the world. The Chinese one cannot use radar, just incoming radio waves.

Venus is up before dawn at the moment, so not that. It looks like a bright star or planet, but hugely out of focus. Doesn't explain why it would disappear, though...

Oops... Missed that you were out in the morning... Sorry!

I had another delivery this evening... The notification came in on Alexa, & I stepped out onto the porch. Nothing... He had put it outside the porch door, about 5 feet from the sidewalk! I have given them detailed directions, and asked them to deliver it onto the porch. If I had not been there, or hadn't heard the notification, the first person to walk by could have grabbed it without breaking step.

The first time he delivered it to the wrong address, his excuse was that he had delivered it to me, and maybe porch pirates had gotten it, as they had been having some trouble with them. If they have been having trouble with thieves, then why leave a package out on the street???

In the last 10 years I’ve only had two issues with Amazon delivery (Hundreds of deliveries). In both problem cases it is was when USPS provided the last step. Currently most of our Amazon orders are delivered by Amazon. Never an issue. Obviously personal experience depends on where and who.

I have had literally hundreds of packages from Amazon delivered with no problem. That's why I was so aggravated about this current situation. I had a couple of deliveries today, one from UPS and one from the Amazon van, no problems. This is literally the first time I have received a package correctly from one of the Amazon Smile vans.

Open Amazon. Put your cursor on "Hello, Bloke, Account" In the drop down click "Your Account". In the top left menu box click on "Your Addresses". In the box That has "Default Amazon" at the top you will see a link "Add delivery instructions." Click the link. A small window will open. Make sure all the information is correct. At the bottom of the window will be another link "Add more instructions." Click the link. There will be a drop down window "Do we need additional instructions to find this address?" You can type in any instructions you want that you think will help the driver get the right house. I wrote "Leave packages by the front door of my unit and ring the bell." My wife put a large cast bronze frog on the step near the door. We wrote "look for bronze frog."

All drivers see the instructions whether it is UPS, USPS or Amazon Prime truck. We haven't had a single problem since. Good luck.

The guy I was on with last night asked me for 'further instructions', but there really isn't much I can say. I will go on and check this out, though. Can't hurt

Interestingly, I have received an email about the replacement order - coming via UPS! Maybe they *are* getting enough complaints...

I have been getting deliveries from Prime via UPS for years, with hardly a problem. Recently they have changed to using their own delivery vans. Now, not so much...

Last week I had a package coming, and I got the "delivered" message from Alexa. I stepped outside, but there was nothing on the porch. I could see the driver walking up the street with a package in his hands, so I asked him if that was mine. "No, I already delivered yours...". Well, not to my house, he hadn't. He tried to say that maybe it had been taken by 'porch pirates' - but my computer is right by a window, which opens onto the porch doorway, so I can see anyone who enters. I persisted, and he went back to check out his truck. Nope, not on their, because he had delivered it... After about 20 minutes of waffling, he eventually went to a house across the street, and there it was. As it happens, that is my landlady's house, so I would have gotten it eventually.

Next day, I get an email saying it was delivered, including a photograph of it sitting on their doorstep - where you could clearly see the house number, which wasn't mine.

I was due another package on Tuesday, and it didn't arrive. The complaint-bot on Amazon told me to wait for a day, and then get back to them. It didn't arrive yesterday either, but I did get an email saying it was delivered, and again, showing a photograph of it sitting at the door. Once again, it wasn't my door! This time it didn't show the number, but the house siding was completely different. It appears that this driver is just dropping off packages at random houses... To add insult to injury, I was home all day yesterday and saw the van(s) 3 times, and one occasion he actually backed in turned around directly across from my house. I figured he had gone to find a parking space, but nope.

I managed to get through to a real person in chat, and explained all this. He is sending out a repeat order, for delivery tomorrow. Thing is, though, I have several other items due today, and I don't have high hopes of success - and some of these are more expensive items! So far, he is 0 for 2...

I can't believe that I am the only person that this (these?) driver(s) are failing to deliver to. It's possible that the person who received my package will be kind enough to drop it by, but not if it is a distance away. I once had a delivery which was for someone a long way down the road, so I called FedEx and told them. They said I should just go deliver it! I said no way, you were paid to deliver it, so get your driver back here to pick it up. They did...

It has been a while since I had a good rant! I wish they had just stayed with UPS. Maybe if enough of us complain, they will. Or at least get rid of this person and get a driver who can read 3-digit house numbers!

What about Tarawa, Philippines, Guadal Canal.
Who flew the "Hump"?
Who kicked Hitler out of N. Africa, Sicily and Southern Europe?
You struggled to just maintain parity with Hitler in Africa and only his stupidity allowed you to survive.
Learn history and quit undermining a happy post and trying to drag it into the Attic with your hatred for the greatest nation that has ever existed and the beautiful flag that represents it.

Hatred??? Wow... Where did I express hatred? I am a naturalized US citizen, and hardly 'hate' this country. I was just pointing out that the claim of "I was at every battle of every war" is not correct. I never claimed that British forces were present at any of the battles you list above. The claim of omnipresence was yours, and as stated, it was not correct.

Your statement that you preferred to stay put of our conflicts belies the claim.

I could also point out that Britain went to war with Hitler because he invaded one of our Allies. The US and UK are supposed to have a "special relationship", but the US did not enter the war until attacked itself...

This is not a political issue, so I see no reason why it would be moved to the attic. I merely pointed out an inconsistency in your original post. You chose to attack. Does this site not allow free speech? I meant no offense to anyone.

I was present at 2 of the battles I listed, and wounded in one of them. The claim that your flag was at every battle is demeaning to the friends and comrades that I lost at those events.

I can agree with most of your post, but this bit... Not so much!

Not present at Goose Green, or Mount Tumbledown in the Falklands - in fact the US would not even allow us access to satellite photos, for fear of upsetting South American trading partners...

Also, where were you during the Battle of Britain, El Alamein, Stalingrad, to name just a few?

Not trying to start a fight here, just pointing out some facts...

Our district is proposing one group on Mondays and Thursdays, and the other on Tuesdays and Fridays. Those not in school will be receiving cyber-tuition, and this would include all students on Wednesdays. Of course, how they will get to school once the majority of bus drivers are sick, nobody knows...

From local news reports, your concerns are far from unique.

Oh, I know... Many of our drivers are, like me, getting up in years, and there is a lot of concern. Our company covers 2 adjoining districts. The other one, came out with a fancy plan which would have made things very complex for the drivers. They then scrapped it, and are going with 'virtual' school, as they had in the Spring.

Here, though, they say they are going back... The plan is for only half of the students to go in on any one day. This makes it extremely difficult for substitute drivers like myself, as there are effectively 2 different runs to learn for both elementary and secondary trip.

I told my boss that I may not be available this year. My main focus is field trips, but as they are saying no sports until next year, that is not an issue. They would be somewhat safer, since they are all secondary kids, who tend to behave better, and team players are more likely to obey the rules. There are also coaches there to help enforce them. Social distancing would still be impossible, though.

I am a school bus driver, and the school district here is planning on opening in a couple of weeks. There is no way that the younger kids on the bus will wear masks - we cannot even get them to stay in their seats! In order to 'socially distance', we could only get about 10 students on a bus, but our elementary runs mostly carry upwards of 60...

As an older person, in several risk categories, I am not keen this situation at all...
