good shots of boomer! maybe he's waiting for the mailman.

He waits on anyone and everyone. He barks to announce all arrivals, and then runs to the new person, family member, or complete stranger, to get his required petting.

Very cute dog, and that 135 f2 is tack sharp with great bokeh - I want one! (my next lens)

Thanks. The 135 is very nice. But, based on my copy, it is quite soft at f/2.0, sharper at f/2.8, and excellent by f/4. It just depends on how sharp you really need.

If really sharp + bokeh is what you want, and you can do without AF, then you might consider the Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 ZF.2. It's the lens I would probably have today if I had not purchased the Nikon already.

Wonderful! It looks like the Albert Einstein of the dog world.

He may have the look... but he's a little short on the intellect. To him E=BR1t (Energy=Begging Required for 1 Treat).

Thanks for viewing and commenting.

I noticed that, Boomer, the Doberman-Poodle (the Doberman heritage is only in his mind), was gazing out the front door this afternoon. It was obvious to me that he was intently searching for any sign of incursion into his domain. Or, he may have just been waiting to sneak in yet another nap.

Anyway, I thought the composition might give me the opportunity to practice a bit with the 135 f/2.

Here are a couple of shots.

f/4, 1/40, iso 640

Very nicely done, Jon. I'm sure she will love the shot.

There are a couple of tiny specks of what appears to be errant makeup below her right eye that I'm sure you will address.

Also, the color cast from her hair on the right cheek seems to make her makeup appear unevenly applied. It's a minor detail that really does not make a significant adverse impact. And, if it does bother either of you, the shot also translates into what would be a timeless treasure in B&W.

The 560 III in S1 mode has an optical sensor that will respond to any other flash it detects and fire at whatever power and zoom that were manually input by the user. The internal radio receiver will not respond to any commands from a controller while the flash is in S1 mode. The flash must be in Manual mode with the radio receiver on (not regular manual mode). The flash will ignore radio signals in all other modes.

... but where are my brushes?????

Changes to a brush set must be "saved" before "replacing" the set with another. Creating a user defined brush "changes" the brush set. Those "unsaved changes" (the user defined brushes) will not be available when the original set is restored.

You may still be able to load the brush at its last size, hardness, etc., from the "recent brush list". If so, you can use it to make another copy that can be "saved". If it has fallen off the recent list you will likely have to re-create it from scratch.

Outstanding! The black and white is irresistible, those eyes are so very sharp and penetrating.

Thanks, Bushpilot. The 85mm delivers very sharp images, and it is probably my favorite lens for this type of shooting.

Excellent light. Very reminiscent of the Hollywood lighting of the thirties and forties from George Hurrell.

Thanks, Cliff. I looked up Hurrell's work. I like it.

I was originally working on a Gavin Hoey inspired shoot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkG62J2tSBc) with hard light and colored gels. But, I thought the image would look even better in B&W.

Here's the color version.
