A very impressive project. Now your friend George needs to built one twice as large, so he can carry a passenger !

There is one thing about George, he is always building something. I'll pass on the thought!

Perfectly done, Phil!

I am so glad you got to see this one my friend, I have done more than a little documentation work on this one for George. I have also managed to collect a nice set of images on the aircraft, the one I am sending you is in sepia with anything modern removed. Thought you might enjoy it. Thanks again and stay well!!

Fantastic photo, Phil. And congrats to your friend George.

Thank you John, when I ask George which was more fun, building it or flying it he did not hesitate to say, building it! He is known as one of the best welder's in this part of the country.

Is there a YouTube of this magnificent machine - - err flying machine in flight? It looks like a vast improvement on the original.

I am not sure about the youtube but I know that the aircraft was improved and redesigned whenever there was a safety issue. George did say it was a trick and a handful to fly!

They did push the limits and beyond, when you look at what they flew you can only stand in amazement!

Good job in this capture. It was a memorable day! Thanks for the head's up!!

It is a warm memory that makes me smile, kinda reminds us of the value of "capturing the moment". I was inspired to post this after seeing George at the Mel-O-Dee restaurant getting food (to go). Keep smiling and looking up and tell 2-L hey!

Great shot; you really nailed the focus, lighting, etc.

There's a still-flying Bleriot monoplane in Maine's Owl's Head Transportation museum that has a very similar construction to the Demoiselle. Unlike this recreation that's clearly using modern materials and a modern engine, the Bleriot looks as fragile as a child's kite and has a crude engine about the size of a weed whacker's. These guys really put their lives on the line, flying any higher than 8 feet, let alone across the English Channel.
Great shot; you really nailed the focus, lighting,... (show quote)

The good words are very much appreciated, and having had the privilege and opportunity of watching the machine being built makes me wonder how they did it 100 years ago.
