Great shot that 'draws' my eyes to the subject where I want to see more. Wait ... did I just suggest a Documentary? :)

Have i overdone it.

First, I really like the composition. That fence draws my eyes right to the fall colors!

Second, and this might not even be a negative, it no longer is a "photo" it is art work.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Your "Day's End" photo of the straight and long steel structure makes that beautiful sky even more dramatic!

We know here when winter is here because we have to put on the pool heater!

Wow, is your pool big or what?! Do all those plants and grass grow even better after you have turned on your pool's heater?

Really liked the photos of your 'pool' visitors!

they don't mention that the rigging you need to really make the DSLR useful as a true video camera will cost as much or more than the body.

What was most shocking to me (after participating in photo clubs for more than 40 years) is that the most important part of a video is the AUDIO. (That isn't even a fair answer, I said. You asked about video!)

The first lesson that 'hit me over the head' was our class was asked to tell the instructor what the couple was talking about when sitting on a sofa together. The first clip was less than 20 seconds. The 'back ground' music was so loud that you couldn't hear the words that they spoke. But it was 'easy' for me to determine their love for each other was very strong. I wrote down "They are really in love, them must be on their honey moon." The second clip was between 15 and 20 seconds. I wrote down, "They are planning something exciting, they must be going on a cruise." The third clip was in that very same time period. I could 'tell' that they weren't getting along at all. I wrote down, "they aren't getting along very well, they must be getting close to a divorce."

Then the instructor took away the music (audio) and proved to us that they hadn't even bothered to "re-film" the clip. It was the exact same video clip.

I was starting to understand, but didn't believe it 'fully'. Another example was given to us. (But this posting is getting so long that I won't give that info unless someone really wants me to post it.) ;-)

Setting aside the 'younger generations' propensity to prefer watching videos over a 'slide show', one 'feature' I use frequently is to get the peak of the action by taking 60 fps video. Then I can catch a sports shot at its peak, a vehicle moving into the exact spot to meet the rules of thirds, etc.

In my camera however, I must be satisfied with 1920 x 1080 pixels when I take in 'movie mode'. But since most affordable monitors are of that 'size', it works for me and both photo clubs that I belong to.

The 'drama' of the squirrel going straight down (with the results of the successful 'hunt' in it's mouth) is my first choice.

You already have your answer. Now you might want to have your photography club consider changing the way 'they' 'introduce' their challenges. Have various members research a single future challenge, at each meeting have one person give a short demo of what is expected and then at the next meeting show the member's results. Two good reasons for this method. The teacher always learns more than the student (that's why the demo's are 'passed around) and actual attendance comes up percentage wise because we all want to learn not only by the critiques we get on our submissions but we'll learn by "how to" demos. My eyes seemed to like the 'composition' of your second photo the best. Those diagonal lines led me directly to the in-focus portiion of that yellow flower. (For What My Opinion Is Worth). ;-)
