If all this is so true, then why do your so called experts have to lie about it? Before you get off on your "prove it" kick, you must remember a few years back the big scandal regarding emails from one of you prestigious universities in England, regarding the covering up of falsified study results.

Scandal? Someone tried to create one.

Do you remember what the ultimate findings, not the initial claims based on out of context releases, were?

"10 Smart Ways to Spend $1,000"

First off, there are only five ways, so that makes me doubt the math ability of the author.

More importantly, there is nothing about buying photo equipment!!!

Ahem…
Jerry, 5 to 10 = 6 ways.

You will find all 10 here...

I just burned DVD slide shows of my recent trip photos to share with some friends and was frustrated to discover the image quality was dreadful--fuzzy, like old VHS videos.

The pictures are sharp as a tack on my 24" monitor when viewed in the Gallery and were saved at high resolution. But, even when I play the DVD back on the same monitor, the images look awful.

The DVD burner is set for NTSC, so it's compatible with North American HD televisions.

What can I do to produce sharp slide shows for sharing?

Were the slide show program settings set to compress pictures and delete cropped areas when you saved the project?

Your problem can occur with PowerPoint.

These shots would be just fine if it weren't for the lines running against the grain of fur on the deer's neck. I don't notice it on the face, just on the neck. They run cross ways in the white area & a bit further down on the neck. Except for a slight crop on the right side, there was no pp. This bugs me. Any help/ info would be appreciated. All shots were jpeg. I didn't want to spend all night working with raw. I've been experimenting with raw but it takes me forever to pp. & they don't seem to turn out as well. I'll check to see if the lines are on them also.

The deer’s fur is not absolutely smooth but lays unevenly at slightly varying depths and angles. The low level light coming from the extreme left in the picture casts (much more noticeable on white than brown) shadows across neighboring hairs so that “highlighted” areas combine to create a pebbly, moiré like, pattern at certain magnifications.

On my monitor, this effect is seen quite clearly in this crop.

K2mbs,
That 20 second video is a clever blend of two clips, out-of-context, from a speech President Obama gave in March this year at Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels, Belgium. You can watch the complete speech (and not just the out-takes from minutes 2:00 to 2:05 and 3.46 to 4:00) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVZWLqkBtf0

You can also read the complete speech at
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/03/26/remarks-president-address-european-youth

I’ve quoted the portion of the speech here and highlighted the pertinent out-takes.

“We meet here at a moment of testing for Europe and the United States, and for the international order that we have worked for generations to build.

“Throughout human history, societies have grappled with fundamental questions of how to organize themselves, the proper relationship between the individual and the state, the best means to resolve inevitable conflicts between states. And it was here in Europe, through centuries of struggle -- through war and Enlightenment, repression and revolution -- that a particular set of ideals began to emerge: The belief that through conscience and free will, each of us has the right to live as we choose. The belief that power is derived from the consent of the governed, and that laws and institutions should be established to protect that understanding. And those ideas eventually inspired a band of colonialists across an ocean, and they wrote them into the founding documents that still guide America today, including the simple truth that all men -- and women -- are created equal.

“But those ideals have also been tested -- here in Europe and around the world. Those ideals have often been threatened by an older, more traditional view of power. This alternative vision argues that ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own affairs, that order and progress can only come when individuals surrender their rights to an all-powerful sovereign. Often, this alternative vision roots itself in the notion that by virtue of race or faith or ethnicity, some are inherently superior to others, and that individual identity must be defined by “us” versus “them,” or that national greatness must flow not by what a people stand for, but by what they are against.”

Headed to Yellowstone in a few weeks and I want to use a larger card than I normally use. Does anyone have any reservations against using a 64GB CF card? Are they more prone to failure than smaller cards?

Regarding brand, I lean towards Lexar or Sandisk. What other brands do you all consider reliable and what brands are to be avoided?

Thanks very much!

Make sure the memory card’s GB size is not greater than the maximum your camera is rated for.

Last year I put a 16 GB CF card in my Canon Rebel XT. After a format, the card was reduced to 8 GB of storage which is the most the XT can see and handle.

I found a Windows program (HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool) at the Hewlett Packard Japanese site, which reformatted and recovered the card’s lost capacity… Windows Explorer can’t recover the original format.

An interesting thing happened--I downloaded AVG and scanned my computer it did find several other threats three of which said ADaware. Any thoughts on this?

A few thoughts.

No one program (paid or free) is capable of finding all A-V attacks, all the time. That is why many of us use a secondary A-V to backup the main program. But, two A-V programs should not be running at the same time as they can conflict with each other and really slow your PC down.

"Ad-Aware" is an anti-spyware and anti-virus program which has been used and proven for a long time but is falling out of favor as newer programs keep coming.

"AdwCleaner" (the one I recommended) is a French program that removes unwanted and intrusive adware, PUPs, toolbars and browser hijacks and is continuously updated 2 or 3 times a month. It isn't an anti-virus program per se.

"Hijack This" is another good program to compliment "AdwCleaner" but it should only be used by someone who really knows what they are doing.

"AVG", just as all anti-v, anti-mal programs, can be subject to false positives which are corrected for in updated data files.

Many virus and malware programs use file names that are similar to existing, safe programs, to hide themselves from easy discovery. Some may even use system file names like explorer.exe to hide.

Where did "AVG" find these positives that it cleaned or quarantined? False positives can exist in the stored files of your browser travels... they may not be a real threat but only a reference that is treated as such.

At the beginning of the month my Google Chrome new page changed. What I mean by that I used to get a page with my theme picture and icons for my most used sites now all I get is a blank white page with a search bar. The info says it is www.trovigio.com and that I first visited the site on May 1. Do any of you know how to remove this and return to my usual site? Thank you for your help.

Download AdwCleaner, a free program at: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/ to your Desk Top.

Dble left click to open the program.
This is not a permanent install, it uninstalls when you are finished.

Click Scanner to search your computer.

When done, click on each tab to see what malware or listing it has found. and click in each box for malware removal.
If you choose to keep or are unsure about a file, uncheck its box.

The last tab to the right (after FireFox) is for Chrome.

Click "Clean" and reboot.

You may have to go back into Chrome's settings to re-set the "On Start-up" New Tab Page and "Search" to Google.

Italian Girls Fined $3,500 each for Wearing Swimsuits Near Muslims on Italian Beach

601 burqa beach 10

The encroachment of Sharia Law continues virtually unchecked or, as in this case, aided by a complicit Italian court. It appears that when one goes to the beach in Italy, it is wise to pack a complete wardrobe containing other country beach attire and then conduct a survey of those on the beach to determine the lowest common denominator of flesh to be exposed in order to avoid offending foreigners; Especially rich ones who consider themselves superior to women and the local population in general.

---------------SNIP-----------------------------

Not only were the girls fined, but they were equated with prostitutes. It’s just more of the same Muslim tolerance on display, everywhere they go.

It appears that this report is not true but based on a hoax originating in an Italian online satirical newspaper, Covrier.

Put the article's title in Google and a search will pull up lots of readable hits for you.

Also, there are tons of photos and videos of recent sightings on the net and on YouTube. Some are very fuzzy or jiggly, some are obvious fakes and some are really quite clear.

Last night, my Windows Live Mail stopped sending and receiving. I called Time Warner this morning, and after over half an hour on the phone, it's still dead. The Road Runner email works, so it's a WinMail issue. The tech suggested deleting and reinstalling WinMail, but that made no difference. This is the only computer in the house with that problem (I think).

Suggestions gladly accepted.

Random questions:
- Exactly what happens (or not) when you attempt to use Live mail on that machine?
- Do you get an error or warning message when it fails?
- Due to the current Heartbleed bug threat, did you change your password at the email server site and the other computers but not the affected one?
