Very nice. And it might be interesting to try monochrome.

Seems like to me that the Canon pres is sending a message - Canon is not going to invest much money in cameras and lenses in future - he is saying there is no reason to invest in a market shrinking that fast.

The market shrinking that fast may or may not be true - I suspect he is wrong - I would guess the market has already pretty much stabilized and is NOT going to shrink anything like he predicts - but he is covering his posterior by telling us the reason why Canon is withdrawing from competing with future designs.

I'm sure Canon will milk their existing line as much and for as long as possible, and will bring out new gear that is entirely derivative of the design and engineering they already have - but I think we have just been told that will be it.

Sad.

I do like the picture - but I'd try cropping off about the bottom 60% so it looks like a panorama. You have the sharpness to pull it off and I think I like it better that way.

Tribalism - sad and unnecessary. I use a Sony A6500 and I think I made the right choice overall for me. It is not a perfect camera but it serves my needs very well.

No one else makes a perfect camera either, for me or for any other user. Yes, I am a fan boy for Sony - but I hardly believe they can do no wrong. Canon has its dedicated following and its flaws; so does Nikon - and Pentax, and Panasonic, and Leica and …

My brother in law uses Nikon, and he votes differently than I do too. We still get along just fine.

This should be a place for reasoned discussion, not knee-jerk invective. We can do better.

I think you said it yourself perfectly - It is just not a good fit. A wedding is an intense and personal experience with a crowd watching and participating. If you are not on the same page you can't do the job the justice they expect and deserve for their money. And that is exactly what I would tell them...

The pictures are excellent - and I very much enjoyed your account as well. A lot of pictures have an interesting story behind them that adds a lot to them, but sadly they are rarely included. Thank you for your story.

Thanks. The lens is from the Olympus OM1, a different mount. But you can buy adapters for 4/3d cameras. You should understand the lens is not autofocus; it is a "legacy" lens.

You don't specify the format you will be using - Full Frame? APS-C? 4/3? Anyhow, if you plan to use the lens primarily hand held, you should determine if you can hold 300 mm steady enough to take a useable picture. In my case that is a real issue at my age... I'd say if you don't need the 300 mm end of the range, don't buy it.

Remember, BestBuy will match Amazon's prices if the product is sold by Amazon. But you have to show them - I print out the page from Amazon and present that. I've never had an issue.

The additions to the A6400 from the A6300 are very much intended for video enthusiasts - of which there are few on this site. I see no significant reason why a still photographer would feel the need to buy the A6400.

The first shot is great - until you see the second shot - which is really stellar! But both are very worthy.

Nice!
