Very nice capture. It is, after all, all about the light.

Excellent portrait of a very pretty lady Thomas. You do such good work. I'd like to see the lighting diagram as well.

Several years ago I had the chance to visit the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde NP NM. As we were hiking down to the cliff dwellings I looked up and saw a small tree that had grown horizontally from the canyon rim. I stopped directly beneath it and shot straight up. I have always loved this shot and as I have been learning new things in Photoshop I have applied different treatments to my little tree. Not all of them have been winners but these are the few that I felt were reasonably successful. I hope you enjoy them and your comments are most welcome.

Have you done anything similar? I would love to see what you have done or have a go at this one!

Dave I like both of them. Beautiful light. I'm with you on composition. It just has to " feel" right.

Well it may well be just the angle of the image but all those joints look tight to me.

This is one of the worlds largest photo chemical companies.

I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this, but for those of us who still shoot some film:

i like it but had to look twice. seems it was built a tad bit askew..... NEAT!!!

Good point alby. I, at first though it had just sagged over the years; but now that you mention it, in looking closely at the joints and the periphery it was made that way. Another credit to the builders to get those angles correct and cut everything with hand tools!

Lovely pieces.
Also, they relate to recent discussions about composition. In the first one, the rightish placement of the branch is compensated by the psychic space of its pointing and growth. In the second, the very good type of composition, circular, is used, used "rule of thirds" and "left/right placement" begone!

Why thank you Bob. I'm glad you like them. I have to admit that composition for me is almost a subconscious process. It either looks right/interesting or it doesn't. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
