Regis,
I'm new, haven't been here for a month. You are right, this one is even more impressive.

This shot should automatically get sent to anyone that asks if the Tamron 150-600mm is a good lens!

I was concerned with more over all for now ....got to do a little at a time ...but thank you I see what you mean...

I am using a 20D and it took a while to discover that if I used autofocus the result was always backfocused. It took a big correction using debug mode options to resolve the issue. But step by step it DID get resolved.

You can always buy backwards, the D3200 is still available, as is many other early models.

That's how I did it. Earlier models were forced to have only the functions that could satisfy film users, after a while they did that pretty well. Those bodies are now pretty cheap because they don't have a bunch of 'features' to not use .

I agree with the first couple of comments.
Since I am a better designer than I am photographer, I might explain that on your landing page forcing that copy into a right/left justified column looks very dated, and the selected typeface is not helping.
You have some great photos but probably too many that are nearly identical. (If I were looking for someone to do head shots of horses, I would only need to see one or two of your best)

Thanks for your well considered answer. As an OLD photographer, now I see that nothing has changed without explanation.

GW,
If you think of this as a portrait and go by the 'focus on the eyes' rule, maybe not.

Bob, I think that is the answer for now; BUT, if this mass produced camera body could be delivered to you after all of the customizing menu choices were selected by you (from a checklist?)and then the firmware could be customized by the sales outlet before delivery to you, that might work. You would never see the options that you don't care about or will never use.

So far, I think everyone agrees that the manual focus is the better result. But why do we think so? Because the scene also includes a bottle label and our brains expect type to be sharp. When you manual focus you are able to use your brain to put the plane of best focus somewhere between the flashlight and the bottle. So when we look at the two photos the conclusion is that two (the most important clues to sharpness for our brain) objects are sharper so the photo is sharper.
When the autofocus system sees this scene, with a great target, the flashlight texture in center frame, that is what it uses. The lens is not more or less sharp when using autofocus but it will not account for your brain's expectation that the type on the label should be sharp, and focuses on the flaslight texture. Presumably an ideal target.
If you resort to p'pixel peeping' and look only at the two flashliht image areas, there is not much difference. The autofocus system has indeed focused on the flashlight pretty well.

So all that boils down to, if you know what you expect to be in focus, use you brain to focus the shot and hope for slow flying birds.
