Magnificent! There are people sitting and standing around in places I need a safety rope just to watch!

In England, English muffins are crumpets. I can't explain the others, but probably a lot of them come from the various influxes (influces?) of population over the years. Romans, French, Vikings, who knows what else!

I lose one every couple of months at the laundromat... As shown above, it is never a matching one to previous losses. I have several singles in a drawer, just waiting to be matched up later...

Amazing flying, yes, but mostly illegal... You are not allowed to fly over public roads, over or close to people... Just sayin'

It feels good to hear all those acronyms and nomenclatures again. It's bringing back some special memories of hours spent getting the software to work with the hardware, and figuring out how to get it all to do something useful. My first computer had 8K RAM - I couldn't afford the upgrade to the maximum of 16K. My youngest daughter was about 3 years old when I wrote her first educational program in a BASIC language that was very similar to TRS-80 Level 1. Oh, yeah. Fun times.

My first computer came with 1K RAM! A Sinclair ZX81 - I believe sold as Timex 1000 in the US. You could expand it to 16K with a plug-in box which sat on the back of the thing, and was so flimsy that the machine would crash if a truck drove down the road!

Quit ordering online. Every week someone on this forum has a rant over delivery delays. Go out and support your local retailer. He/she is likely suffering because of the on-going lockdowns and could really use the help. You are more likely to be killed driving to the store than by the Wuhan virus.

A lot of us live in areas where there *is* no alternative to ordering online. There are no photographic shops within a reasonable drive from me (maybe 50 miles?). Also electronics, and most other 'specialised' items.

I gave an order coming my way... I was informed that it was shipped early on the 23rd, in NJ. Around 9PM - still on the 23rd - I get a notification email that a label had been prepared by the USPS at 12:50 on the 24th (!) and they were awaiting receipt of the package.

According to the tracking site, that is still the situation, 48 hours later.

It isn't like it is an urgent package, but why provide tracking if it is completely unreliable? Or if it shows up the incompetence of the organisations carrying out the delivery?

That is some photo! Scrolled through the others on the site, and many of them are pretty spectacular too...

I make the delivery service do the call chaining and tracking of the package. I didn't pay them to delivery it to a mystery house, therefore they are on the hook for finding it, or working with the retailer to have it replaced.

Unless (LOL): It's my next door neighbors, but the few of us in the cul-de-sac are really good about looking out for each other, and if mail gets mixed up, we usually are proactive about getting it to the correct person.

When Amazon first started delivering with their own vans, I received a notification that a package had been delivered. Went out to look; no sign of it. The van was still in the street, so I grabbed the driver and asked where my package was. He claimed that he had delivered it... I stood there and made him go around looking, and he eventually found it at a house across the street. That happens to be my landlady, so I would certainly have gotten it eventually! Anyway, when the email with the photo arrived, you could see the house number clearly in the picture, and it clearly wasn't my address...

I had so many issues with their delivery vans, it prompted me to install cameras to monitor the porch and the approach.

UPS drivers tend to drop packages outside my porch, literally 2 steps from the sidewalk. I printed out a big sign asking that they place all packages inside the porch. I had one delivery with a photo which showed the package outside, and also showed the sign! *sigh*

My biggest queries were always the holodeck and the universal translator...

On one episode they beamed a whole population onto the holodeck, and proceeded to go through a system of caverns... All in one room...? No matter what the hologram shows, if you walked across the room, you would still hit the wall.

The universal translator, though, that was a neat trick. Not only could it translate any language, but it could also make the alien's lips move in the shape of the English words...

Great show, though, once you could suspend disbelief.
