As usual with this site we don't know what camera the OP has and he still wants advice ???

It’s really irrelevant what camera I use, as they make the same lens for both Canon and Nikon. All I was asking is does a lens hood come with it. That’s pretty much a yes or no answer. The answer is yes. No more discussion needed. But if you wish to know which camera I use, its at the bottom of every post I make in the signature line.

This is BAD guidance. The UV filter is appropriate just as it is for other lenses. The TAP-IN Console is necessary to upload current software to lens and to fine tune the focus of the lens. You calibrate at 3 distances and six focal lengths per distance. The fine tune in the camera is ultimately set to zero. The calibration is necessary because Tamron does not have access to the compensation function used by the camera manufacturers. Also the hood is desirable to improve scene contrast and such. Look at Amazon and you can find bundles including the TAP-IN Console, hood, hard lens case, and stuff you may not need. 😃

I’ll use the lens hood for protection. I never use UV filters as I view them as an unnecessary piece of glass that the light must pass thru which could affect image quality. Also I don’t order from amazon, I’ll order directly from a reputable source. Going through Amazon I never know who the actual vendor is.

Cindy - Gene's response, thus far - is the most explicit, be it also - the most complicated.

If you have a late model DSLR - including most Sony models, and some of the more recent Canons, and Nikons, you will find you can initiate HDR from the menus. This is a simplified way of doing Focus Stacking, and will allow the camera to do all the work. It will take 3-5 images of the subject, at hand, layering them all on top of each other - to give you the best Photo (with them all compiled) automatically!

HDR and photostacking are 2 different subjects. Please don’t confuse someone with inaccurate information.

That's a shame. Still, plenty to see on your next visit.

It was a wonderful trip, loved every minute of it, but I never want to go back.

Thank you. I mostly needed to know if one should be included or not. I will not be buying grey market. Will only buy from reputable dealer.

I’m considering the purchase of this lens and have a question. I’ve never seen this lens in any literature or ads or online offerings that show or even mention a lens hood for it. Does it come with a hood? Is one not recommended for it? For those who have it - does anyone use a hood with it? In the photos I’ve seen of it, the front element just looks very vulnerable.

I recently took a trip to New York City and didn’t realize until I got home that I had inadvertently set my camera to take jpeg instead of raw. I was truly disappointed in my inability to process them as I normally would.

My hometown used to have a coal fired generating facility until just a couple of years ago. The fly ash was used as a cheap fill in building projects. It compacted well as a base for concrete. Any fly ash not used in this way went to our local landfill, not shipped long distance to a hazardous waste facility. I did however used to have a friend who was into these inane conspiracy theories and would obsess over them. Lots of crackpot ideas floating around out there like this one.

Go to your profile page on UHH, find your list of postings, go thru them looking for the previous posting that provided you with the information you’re looking for. If the correct information came to you in a PM, those are also archived, just go back searching for what you’re looking for.

Thanks Walt please use it. All I did was change the gamma a tiny bit to enrich it, clone out some of the branch shadows at the near end of the path, and run a 10% (edge preserving smoothness. All this is in Paint Shop Pro. RBorud

I appreciate the offer to use it but it isn’t my edit so I will not be using it for any purpose other than inspiration.
