There has to be an IR filter somewhere, internal or on the lens. It looks like you have the conversion with an internal IR filter which passes some visible light to allow color IR photography.

It’s a permanent one over the sensor so when looking at the screen or the evf light looks the same as if I’m using a non IR camera

The main advantage of mirrorless for IR is with full-spectrum conversions, where there is no internal IR filter installed and IR filters are used on the lens. With a DSLR you would be viewing and focusing through a very dark filter, but the mirrorless monitor will compensate. I have DSLR conversions with an internal filter and they work just fine. I don't worry about focus as I use a wide angle lens for IR and stop down to at least f8.

I had an Olympus Pen-F converted to full color conversion and never use a filter on the lens as there is no need as I see And I use a less expensive Olympus wide angle lens the lens has full range auto focus and I can use the setup as I would use any other camera I own it’s in the WB before shooting and in the post
It’s great fun

If you can't see the difference, you've never owned a mirrorless camera.

I was a mirrorless popo person before I tried one
Than I was hooked worlds apart in using a mirrorless
I shoot high school sports and various activities
I had my Nikon D5 in a concert and the “clunk-clunk” of the mirror was defining I was glared at by the parents
I got a Sony A9 silence on the next event
I no longer own dlsrsore

I used “Lifepixel” for my IR conversion but before I did some research and found mirrorless to have many less issues and “cheaper” lenses have less issues with “hot spots” with mirrorless you don’t need to have your lens set up to focus because IR focuses differently than non IR

I went from Nikon D5 & D500 to Sony A9 & A6600 and Olympus Omdem1mk3
I’m so glad I did I haven’t found any reasons why I would prefer the old pentaprisim of SLR/DSLR

I went Olympus for air travel around 2017 (half weight and size) with 2 lenses the first trip wasn’t of particular photograph importance. I had purchased the Olympus Pen-F with 12-40f2.8 pro & 75f1.8 lenses (24-80 & 150) I was blown away with how sharp the images are. I did some more research pixel peeping utube etc. eventually I had a full kit of Olympus including EM1MK3 now with the OM1 I eventually sold all Nikon gear. I love and use many of the in body “gimmicks “ to my advantage, now with bird eye af is awesome I also use the focus stacking I enjoy doing table top still life’s weather sealing, I could go on and on

Sony is a great system
Getting Sony FF isn’t lighter than canon DSLR due to FF lenses be it for mirror or mirrorless
Getting the Olympus system is small lighter and most compatible for all types of photography
I run both systems
If I’m going to work I grab Sony as the yearbook company requires FF images
I’m a Nikon DSLR convert and my Sony gear isn’t lighter
If I’m birding or vacationing or any other personal shooting I grab my Olympus
All that said
I am involved with a good size photo club and often place in the top three on competition nights
So she should seriously look at Olympus
My wife love her Olympus gear it’s light and very portable
