Only people who have performed strength tests on them can truly answer your question about strength/durability.

Given that these camera straps are fairly cheap (about $13), I doubt there is anything really special about them. If you are looking for an inexpensive camera strap and you particularly like how the Off White strap looks, maybe consider it. Other than that, I don't think there is any reason to buy one. There are plenty of other straps for you to choose from in that price category.

Feet on a monopod is mostly a gimmick. With a bit of practice you can learn to keep the monopod steady. If you need more stability and support, then use a proper tripod.

If you do decide to take on the project, make sure that they understand exactly what your prior experience is and what results they can (or should not) expect.

Giving up after only five days? Such impatient people we've become! Whenever I order stuff, I simply assume it won't reach me until weeks later. That way I'm rarely ever disappointed. (Obviously this doesn't work when ordering pizza delivery.)

An interesting idea, but at this time of the year I'm eager to spend more time with outdoor activities, not sitting at home in front of the computer.

Personally, I don't find BIF images particularly compelling - too much sameness. But I suppose that's the point of this project.

If I were to guess, I'd say the squirrel got away. They can be extremely fast and agile while climbing a tree and are able to maneuver from one side to the other much quicker than a bird of prey can fly around the tree.

You have to be realistic about how much actual exposure you will get. In most cases, practically none. Other than experience, you are gaining nothing. But a photo shoot with a famous celebrity for example, there can be a significant amount of exposure - if you know how to market yourself. Something like that could potentially open doors to very lucrative future assignments.

Funny.
Everyone appears to trust their car, washing machine, TV, microwave, cellphone, ...
But few trust their memory cards.

Yeah, I don't really understand it. Of all my gadgets, the memory cards have proven to be the most reliable and durable.

Compared to most other cameras, I don't think a DSLR camera is really anymore complicated. Matched with an appropriate zoom lens for the type of photography she wants to do, and she will be fine.

Usually these things can be resolved in the settings menu of the computer and/or software.

If you bring enough SD cards with you, then you don't really need a portable hard drive on the trip. SD cards are small, weigh almost nothing and you don't need to waste time at the end of each day moving files.

How come all our avid utube watchers aren't rushing to UHH this morning and posting links to the latest update out of Philly? Is it because his announced decision is to move to the superior EOS mirrorless technology for his professional work? Too bad Sony. Too bad Nikon.

Because he changes his camera equipment more frequently than most people change their socks.

I don't understand what you mean by "better". It's a very different kind of lens. Only you can know which may best serve your photographic needs.

So the next real photographer will be the one who can describe the scene more accurately?

It depends on how you define "real photographer", or if there is even such a thing. Compared to a commercial photographer, a hobbyist photographer will certainly have less reason to fear becoming obsolete. You can find a similar parallel between the traditional medium painter vs. the digital artist.
