Clean the contacts, if it still won't work, discard it. You don't want to rely on an iffy card. I rescued a card once using some low-level software tools I use as a consultant and it failed in-camera anyway. Just not worth the uncertainty.

How do you clean the contacts on a CF card? The contacts are all female and internal.

What viewer did you use. I'm pretty computer knowledgable but this one is totally confusing me. Opanda is out of date. Picasa 3 is another editing program that I don't want. Exiftool is not working for me. UHH responders want me to go to Lightroom, which I don't have, others want me to change formats from jeg to raw, etc. There's got to be an easier way to get this data. Thanks to all who are trying to help, it's truly appreciated.

Tried others with no success. Other sites seem so complicated. Even contacted Nikon support and they couldn't direct me to a 3rd party site. A few sites out there but when I try to download I get all kinds of distractions. Shouldn't be this hard. Contactd Nikon support and they couldn't help.

You must be doing something wrong, Gave me shutter count for my D7100. It took about a minute to upload but worked fine.

I use BBF almost all the time for static shots or when not trying to stop motion. I can lock in the focus then use a different area to meter the exposure with the shutter button. Great for shots with a variance in light sources or high dynamics like night shots. It doesn't work well with action shots. You need your focus to change as the subject moves. That is when I use AI Focus. I am by no means an expert and I hope I explained it correctly but this works for me.

On action shots just keep holding the bbf down and it is continuous focus.

It took a month, but yesterday I received a new Logitech K800 keyboard under warranty. It's a shame that just one key (S) out of over 100 was not working, so the kbd was really unusable. They said it took so long because they had "heavier than expected" email traffic. Every heard that line before?

I called to cancel a credit card yesterday, and was on hold for fifteen minutes. I bet my wait would have been shorter if I had wanted to increase my credit limit.

Logitech also honored a warranty replacement for my keyboard. Keys were sticking and the letter decals were coming off. It took about 3 weeks to get the replacement. But they did replace it.

If you have any religious or philosophical beliefs that would prevent you from serving members of the public because of their religion, race, sexual orientation, mental/physical handicap, or age, then you should consider the costs of defending such denial of service in the legal system when you decide to hang out your shingle. That's the world we live in today, whatever you may think of it.

However I am still anxiously awaiting information on the case cited above, where the poster's acquaintance lost his or her business and home because s/he did not do photographs of children and was sued by the family of a handicapped child. If that is true, then there is a whole new world of potential discrimination lawsuits waiting to be opened up. As I noted to the poster, I would like to research the case and any precedents or case law cited in the decision - it seems rather difficult to believe on the surface.

Andy, if you do get information on that case, I too would love to see it. It is hard to believe the result the OP posted. Perhaps some facts got twisted. So it would be interesting to review. As you would understand, it costs a lot of defense dollars to prove you are right when you are named in a law suit.
Thanks

If you want to make some money for shooting and don’t want a business work as a second shooter for another photographer.

If you get paid as a second shooter you are in business.

Based upon what you wrote about not wanting to start a business ...
Either do the requests asked of you for free, or politely say no.
This avoids all liability and possible personal headaches that could come
when you charge for you services.

Doing it for free does not remove you from liability. An example: you agree to shoot for free. Something goes wrong and the photos do not come out good at all. Then they file an action against you for ruining their event.

Or your shooting an event and you knock someone down by accidently bumping into them to get a shot. They get hurt and want you to pay for their injury.

Not necessarily David. There is more than one monthly or annual subscription. There are 2 that cost $9.99/month.

One of them is Lightroom CC with 1TB of cloud space for $9.99/month (no Photoshop)
The other is Lightroom CC with 20GB of Cloud, Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC, Bridge CC for the same amount of money.

I did say the photography plan and not the lightroom plan. Yes there is a difference. I said that if he bought the photography plan he should have it. Not with the lightroom plan.

Maybe I should have been more descriptive to satisfy the nit pickers.

With some of the Nikon cameras there are 4 different shooting menus. I use BBF for BIF but for landscape I use the shutter release for focusing.

How are you able to use both? So you use BBF and then press the shutter, it will possibly change the focal point?

I’ve obviously done something wrong. When I first started in digital a few months back the kind people here at UHH recommended LR Classic CC along with Photo Shop monthly subscription. LR seemed daunting at first but has become quite fun. At that time I thought I got Photo Shop but I can’t find it. I’d like to move on to more editing there. Can anyone tell me where this should be? I thought I downloaded (or uploaded) but I don’t know if I did it right. Thanks in advance for your help.

You are paying for the subscription either monthly or annually, so I would contact adobe and have them help you. If you bought the photography subscription you should have it.

A post about BBF on the Nikon D7200 this morning prompted me to ask another question. I have a D5600 and have downloaded Steve Perry's ebook (so glad I did!). Following his instructions, I set my camera for BBF and am still practicing, but I think I will like using it. My question: Is there any situation in which BBF is not recommended/useful?

Not that I know of and I have been using it for years.
