Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I'll get the Tamron with the 5100 then save up for smaller ratio zoom later. All the photos viewed were good.

Like the work on the construction site. Still a confused as to the name. Sounds like A L S to me instead of it being a possessive for your name such as Al's, Al is the owner in this manner. A couple things I would modify is:
- The line "Serving Boise Idaho through Ontario Oregon" needs a couple of commas and it is more professional to abbreviate the states, Boise, ID - Ontario, OR.
- I also agree with mafadecay, please do not do the scrolling type. I would change the font & color on that line to either the script in the name or a serif type font. Right now it just blends in.
- I would also make sure things that are supposed to be centered are actually centered with the image area you are working in or within the lines of text they occur and other misc. alignment.
- Like the idea of a banner also.

New to all of this so looking for opinions. I've done some comparisons online between the regular lens (18-55) that comes with the Nikon 5100 that I'm purchasing next month & the Tamron 18-270. May buy the body only & purchase the Tamron. Reasoning is sheer convenience of not having to change the lens. It would be less expensive to also buy a Tamron 55-200 but I'm thinking if I'm in my car & want to take a shot that requires a zooming in I may miss the moment. I don't want to sacrifice any quality though & plan on taking action shots as well. So, does anyone use the 18-270 as an all around or know if it will work well as an all around lens or would I be better served to have at least 2 lenses? Thanks

Went back to your website. I like the changes you've made so far. A couple of things that I noticed (sorry, it is the grammar freak in me) is you need a period "." after "One thing you can never recover is a moment after it's gone". Also, if the name is Al then "Al's" should have an apostrophe.

I would also center the type at the top:
Als-Photo
Most packages can be altered
and vary the price a great deal
the lines aren't centered together or in the area.

Look forward to seeing your final site.

Not a professional photographer just a dabbler but I do work in publishing and advertising.
-Black and yellow is the number one color combination to grab attention but is a bit abrupt for a wedding photographer.
-I would add your logo at the top along with your name, address and phone. People don't like to search for that information.
-I'm not a fan of music on websites.
-You should post 4-6 larger samples of your work on your home page.
-Change the font and do not use all capital letters.
-Also, change your copy sounds a little negative or like you are slamming others in your area. Make your message positive and don't apologize for your pricing. Pricing integrity is important. "Quality Portraits at Affordable Prices" or something like that may work better.
-I'm not sold on posting pricing for this product online. You miss the opportunity to sell yourself. I would post some of the package information, limited and put something like, "Call For Complete Package and Pricing Information"
-"One thing you can never recover is a moment after it's gone..." is a good tag line but I would get rid of "NO SECOND CHANCES! Sounds bossy and using all capital letters and underlining adds to that.
-I don't like watching video's on the computer. If I were looking for a photographer I would want to view a few pages of their finest work showcasing different scenarios, places, poses, etc.
-You may want to contact your local schools both high school and technical schools and see if they have programs for web creation, they may create a web page for you for free or low cost for a project or grade.

Hope this didn't sound too opinionated. Good luck!

Thanks Doe, I love visiting Charleston. I'll have to do a black and white version, hadn't thought of that.

Beginner here who shot this Thunderbird for a calendar & have since been asked to shoot cars for a couple local club's calendars. Any suggestions? Not sure of cars or colors yet.

Hi Everyone - new to UHH and dslr photography. I have years of experience shooting with point & shoots & a couple dslrs via work but am buying either a Nikon 5100 or Canon T2i next month. Any opinions on which to choose are more than welcome. My love of photography goes back to my childhood & shooting clouds. I've been reading the UHH newsletter & posts for about a month & have a much better insight. You all are great group & I am hoping to be a like sponge & soak in a lot of the knowledge & experience. Bodies, lenses, L's, filters, etc. The photos attached are 2 of my favorite subjects - grandchildren & sports that I shot with a Canon Xti and 50-150 lens that I borrowed. I am pretty pleased with the shot capturing the ball but feedback is appreciated on how to make it better. I was sitting behind the bleachers while shooting. Really excited about being a member. Take care! Meri
