I got two emails from the Secretary-General of the United Nations telling me that I have $250,000 coming to me as compensation "in order to restore the global economy to the enviable standard of respectability." The two emails were sent 52 minutes apart. I guess they're getting impatient to get rid of that money.

So, should I buy DX or FX? And how about lenses? Which would be the best for all-around use for everything? :D

He who hesitates is lost.

You are too late, Jerry. I immediately answered their request giving my full name (I corrected their spelling), address, Social Security and bank account numbers, credit card information and the name of my first born child.

They emailed back that all is well and I can expect to hear from my bank… soon!

Woo Hoo!

With this wireless shutter, do you have to be in front of the camera to get the shutter to fire or can this be operated from the side or behind the camera?

Both of those remote controls are RF so you don't need to be in front of the camera.

IF (Infra-Red) wireless, if your camera has that feature and you use an IF controller, requires you to be in front of the camera because that is where the IF light receptor (window) is located. It is line of sight only.

RF (Radio Frequency) wireless uses a separate plug-in receptor on the camera which acts as an antenna and is Omni-directional.

Assuming the child in the photo didn't move (and she didn't) what would cause this double exposure look to the head of the upper child. ?? Canon 6d with 24-105.

I am sure your assumption is incorrect.
The central figure displays a ghost image that increases in width from mid waist up.
The blurred background shows no indication of "mysterious" ghosting.
Ergo, she quickly moved to her left a tiny bit at the waist during a relatively long exposure.

This is something you don't see too often. The Jeep was covered with ice and probably warmed up a bit before backing out of its parking space in Greenville, NC.

Jerry, you put a period on the end of the URL... remove it and the browser will go to the page.

Thanks. I'll try it.

Edit: Got it. They could have listed those filters alphabetically and included "polar" in the Index.

I smell a possible contest theme coming up.

How about Anamorphosis?

And anamorphic art appears to have been around for quite some time.

[quote=jerryc41]Whenever I want to read about this, I can't remember the term for it. It's a way of processing an image in PS so that it looks like a planet - a small world.

I found an example, but I know there's a photographic term for this effect.

Ignore this Jerry... my reply became a repeat of another reply while I was replying. :?

I hope that is clear.

I was describing an old cartoon to the kids tonight--I think there was more than one.

The sound effects were spoken. "Step, step, step" for walking. "Slam" for closing doors.

There's got to be someone out there that remembers this.

CANON FD 50MM F1.8 LENS STANDARD PRIME LENS *MANUAL FOCUS *BOXED *

What am I seeing here? Is this a lens that looks like the auto focus lens. It says manual focus.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111499309104

This is an older manual focus lens from Canon’s 35mm film cameras.
An adapter will fit it to your DSLR while increasing the focal length and reducing the f setting.
The lens plus an adapter = $100 approx. and you still have a manual focus lens.
A new, auto focus Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens for the modern DSLR is about $120.

I was wondering if somebody could tell me what happened to the film in this shot (pentax spotmatic) Thanks

I have had similar spotting from dust on the surface and even the underside of a flatbed scanner glass.

Carefully clean the glass with a lint free micro fiber cloth. A gentle wipe or blow with an air bulb on the glass and photo before each scan should keep those spots away.

On negatives, I use a large soft brush (same type that women use for applying blush) for dusting.

Dust or lint on slides (positive image) will show up as black dots. On negatives it appears as white dots when color reversal of the image is performed.

Pick up an issue of Art In America sometime to see what's considered "art" these days. They even had an article where a woman (the "Artist") pooped onstage then her assistants gathered it up in little ramekins and sold her "art" to the audience! I suppose she photograph it and sell that too...

More unbelievable "art" that sold for big bucks.

I'm almost 80 now and have been involved in photography since I was 15 years old, getting paid for my efforts most of the time. I go back as far as doing weddings with a Speed Graphic, cut film holders and #5 flashbulbs. I made commercial 8X10 contact prints in a printing frame by dodging and burning in areas with the use of cut up tissue paper below the printing frame. After I retired I entered my "fun work" in various juried art show and actually sold my artistic work. Today I went to a large art show that is run by a much respected artists group. I was shocked and truly surprised by the lack of quality of the things that I saw .Everything was over-corrected and photo-- shopped. Nothing was in focus. Color was not corrected, it was distorted. Images of buildings were bent and twisted. I need to ask why! Is this movement to abstract images a genuine part of photography. Is it art? Does it belong in a show with real photos?

Many felt/feel the same way about the works of Dali, Picasso, Cezanne, etc.

The validity of any artistic rendering is intensely personal.

I am trying to do bird pics at my feeder. It seems that there is a 1/2 sec or more delay before the snap. I am using a wireless release. How should I set camera up for no delay. Manual focus, AP, SP, Help?

Sorry, the shutter delay you experience is part and parcel of that model.

See the chart at this review.
