No parking at the Texas Capital Bldg?

Probably not much parking in Juneau since you can’t go there except by plane or boat.

Go talk to an attorney or two. Won’t cost you anything and you will know after the initial consultation if you want to hire one. Attorneys of take cases on a contingency basis. They get a piece of the settlement by you will probably come out with a more reasonable settlement. A very good attorney will charge the same as a crappy one. Choose the best. Advertising doesn’t make the attorney better. If you have someone whose judgment you trust. Good luck and speedy recovery.

Listen to the young educated minds, our future , they have more feelings for 35,000 Palestinians ( human beings ) , 70 percent women and children, than adults , who don’t have feelings snd don’t understand the pro Palestine protests ! Just like Vietnam protests ! Please Stop killings !

The anti war prostrate during Viet Nam cost the Soviets about $50 million a year. More non students arrested than students. Wonder how much this is costing and who is paying the bill.

They seem to have been product presentation/advertising photo practice and he used the gun collection as the subjects.

My inner mean little kid wants to start posting pictures of guns, better yet, me holding guns. I know I have pictures from Vietnam in a storage box I can scan.

Better yet, show a photo of a kid shooting a gun. That’ll light the hair on fire.

The pittance I would earn on my overpayment isn’t worth worrying about. Coming up with $ is aggravating given the ineptitude of govt. What we did was file single, no dependents to pay in the max contribution then file jointly listing all the dependents for the max refund. The size of the refund determined the nature of the family vacation. Small refund camping on the beach, a bigger one stay in a resort or whatever. I know that’s economically unsound but the interest I didn’t earn isn’t as bad as the vacations were good.

BnH has a 30 day return policy. I’m sure it would cost less to pay the return shipping than to rent the lens for a couple of weeks.

Would you do that? Would you do that to a friend who owned a business or just strangers?

That's true of a lot of antique things. I probably bought 10 used tractors over my farm career. Every one cost me more than the original owner paid for the new tractor. Inflation. The cost of a tractor is the maintenance, not the capital. You could probably make a similar statement for almost every antique thingy you use on a regular basis. A friend had a number of antique cars that he drove regularly. He had to maintain a machine shop to do maintenance (making your own replacement parts, including bearings and brake pads).

On the other hand, I had a John Deere model B tractor. They were made from about 1935 until 1952. In the '90s I could still get parts for them. 10 years is old for a car. 50 years is middle age for a tractor.

The back you describe is in a FilmPack that Kodak prepared for 4x5 cameras. There are roll film backs for 120 (2 1/4”) and also a Polaroid back in addition to the film holder for 2 shots as well as a Polaroid back. One of the significant prints I have displayed was taken on a Crown Graphic by Bernice Abbott. It is of the Flatiron building in NYC. She wrote an excellent article in “The Graflex Camera” The shot is an illustration in one of the editions of the book.

I posted the original question and appreciate the responses.

After reading the majority of the posts i have become convinced that the majority of posters don't know what a Crown Graphic camera is.

Good advice Paul.

Buy the best lens you can afford, you’ll find a camera to attach to it. I like Canon but brand isn’t the issue. The lens is the second most important after your brain and imagination followed by the camera. Mirrorless is here to stay and there is a reason the DSLR’s are so inexpensive now. I’ve had very good luck buying used and refurbished equipment. If you have a local camera store go hold some cameras a talk with the sales staff, they’ll be a tremendous asset after the sale as well as before in most cases. If you do go to the local store buy from them even if it’s a little more expensive than the gigantic stores. The provide a service and should be rewarded for that. Strikes me as a moral/ethical question rather than an economic one. Good luck in your endeavor.

Electrical power is required for all large boat steering. It controls the hydraulics that control the rudder. There are typically 3 diesel electrical generators plus a backup, so there is plenty of redundancy.

The captain (master) of a vessel always has the final authority and responsibility for the vessel. The pilot is on board to assist in navigation.

Makes one think. Who in his right mind would make a multi million dollar boat that can't be steered once the power is out, and make the steering worked only by one engine? That would be gross negligence on the designer, or gross negligence on the operator/owner of the ship, if they allowed it to travel with only one its system working.

As for the captain to overrule the pilot who was managing the emergency, well, the pilot was there for a reason. He was the captain at that moment. There is much to dig on that event that I'd not call it an accident, just yet.

There is no use moving the rudder if you have power. The rudder deflects the water by its thrust.
The pilot does not get replaced by the captain he advises the captain.
When an investigation is completed many of our arm chair nautical engineers will be able to know what happened based on expertise not conjecture.

If they were weaved together they’d be one. I’ve set an anchor and beached and tied down to keep from ending up parallel to the shore.

I’d like to see how you deploy 4 anchors. I have enough trouble with one.

A paint chip smaller then 1/4 the size of a pinkie fingernail solved a case I had. If the driver had stopped she would have been released at the scene. Dark cloths, dark road jaywalking victim.

Even the Pilot(s) can't steer a boat without power. I thought I heard that the crew called in to say they'd suffered a catastrophic loss of power before the collision.

That’s what the news said. Mayday because of loss of power. It sounded like they shut the bridge before the collapse but maintenance workers are lost.
