I have hundreds of family snap shots I would like to scan. Any recommendation for a scanner?
My choice is the Epson V500 PHOTO. Not only will it do pictures, but also slides and negatives with wonderful results.
Ditto on the Epson. I am adding the Epson V750-M soon, which, with a little tweaking, is extraordinary at the price. It is a bummer to use my new compact car priced Imacon in that it uses the olde SCSI standard. Ew.

I received my Epson V600 a couple weeks ago; thanks to MT Shooter for the recommendation. I must say that I have never had a better scanner. Scanning hundreds of my mother's old 120 negs, and am I finding some priceless gems! Thanks again MT.
i count my slides as from a different era, if i want to look at them, i pull out my projector and screen.
I also have the V500 and am well pleased with it. I scan many old photos for inclusion in our genealogy research and have always gotten great results.

I got the Epson Perfection V600 three years ago, and it's been working beautifully - never a problem, and it has very good software.
I wonder who the guy was at Epson who thought of putting the word "Perfection" in the model name. Good move.
Ditto the Epson V500. Does a great job for me.
Has anyone made comparisons between the various versions of these V series scanners? Is there much improvement between the V500, V600 And V750??

I personally like canon brand scanners ( there goes my nikon ninja card) they are fast, have great software and am always pleased with the results. Tried a HP scanner but did not like it, was slow and scans were of poore quality.
I bought a Pandigital 4x6 to put all my family's old prints and negatives on to my computer with good results and not expensive, it will also copy them to SD cards.
Google their site they do quite a few in their range.

have the epson v500 and love it! I use it for everything. You can even make pdfs of out of print books!
Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to get either the Epson v500 or pay a little more for the v600.
