Several years ago a wildflower photographer friend showed me a rig he was using. It was a automobile radio antenna with a pipe cleaner. It collapses and is easy to carry. I made one and am still using it. You can make a smaller one from a collapsible pointer.

You can do this for about $8 each - $10 for a pair of 32" Kwiktwist ties, and another $6 for two pairs of quick clamps.

You can get them direct from the maker for less money. Price is 7.99 per pair and shipping is flat 5.00.

There is a product that is called "Loc-Line Ball Socket Flexible Tube" that can be purchased from Amazon. You might also consider the "Loc-Line Hose Assembly Pliers" also from Amazon. Purchase a couple of small wood clamps from Lowes and attach them to the ends of the flexible tubing. I did this when I saw how the Plamp (Plant clamp) was made and it works like great. Using the assembly pliers you can shorten or extend the length as needed. Good luck.

I recently went to a presentation during which the Plamp was demonstrated. It is a bendable "arm" that attaches to a tripod at one end and has a clamp at the other end. The presenter used it to hold a background she had mounted on piece of foam board (11" X 16") in order to take a close-up of a flower. The $43.00 price of the Plamp on Amazon, B&H, etc. is a bit beyond my budget, so I have a some questions:
1) Does anyone have experience the Kupo D700912 Mini flex arm w/alligator clip (Adorama), and would it serve the same purpose? Kupo is about $27.00.
2) Is there anything else out there in the $20-$25 (or less) price range?
3) Is there a "hack" that I could use to build my own?

Thanks in advance for your help!
