I use Macrium Reflect.

Ditto; great software and reasonably priced.

I am thinking of going to external HDD for backup instead of using cloud backup. What software do you all recomend for external backup. I know a lot of the external drives come with backup programs, but are there better options than the distributed backup sftware?

I dont use software, I just save everything in a folder marked "all Data" with subfolders for photos, etc, and copy those folders every week or so to an external usb drive... I wont trues a computer hard drive, got burned..

I am stuck with Windows 8.1--a long story, but I use Easeus Todo backup software which seems to work quite well and is dependable.

I used Easus Todo and lost a hard drive. When I tried to restore, it only partially restored. I'd do a test restore to make sure it works.

Fortunately, all my photos are backed up on Google Photo. I'm also interested in backup options.
