Went to use camera, got the
"No Card " warning. I'd left it
in my PC :-(

So, I will now keep an extra
card in the 2nd slot ..... and
all this time I thought users
demanding a 2nd slot were
all just crazy. Well maybe so
but for anyone forgetful it's
a handy solution :-)

Just remember the second slot is for back so it’s absolutely imperative that you have the same value of storage in each slot and keep it set at back up. If the worst was to happen you I’ll then have a second bite of the cherry. It has happened too me once. At a wedding shoot, it a was a gift from heaven.

Writing to both slots slows down the burst rate (at least on my camera), but if it’s a non-repeatable event (like a wedding), a backup is worth its weight in gold.

The card read speed, usually faster than the write speed. I use 128G SanDisk Extreme cards. In this case, a 128G card may have a read rating of up to 60 Mb/s with a write rating of up to 90 Mb/s.

Curious why you didn't have a spare card on you at the time anyway? I have a bunch of cards which are maybe not the fastest speed and highest capacity, but are serviceable in an emergency.

I learned the hard way -- taking a bunch of shots so focused on composition, exposure etc. that I didn't notice the "no card" warning at first.

While on the subject of cards, I confess that I also deleted a bunch of shots unwittingly, since the camera rolled them over into a new file folder after the numbering went from 999 to 1000! Fortunately I hadn't reformatted the card, so was able to recover them.

Been there but both slots were empty. After a few choice words I thought to check the battery grip.

Thanks to the battery grip.... there was a 64gb card in the storage slot... saved a long walk back to get one.

Saved the day.

That's what I asked Mb/s. Initial post was "95 Mb cards".
Never mind, must have been too early that day.

That's happened to me many times. I take the card out to upload pictures, and I forget to put it back in. Fortunately, card #2 saves pictures when I start shooting again.

Curious, huh ? Well the answer is sorta
curious as well. I'm away from home
for a while. I left with a pair of 128s in
the camera. Then I bought a second
camera that I did not need immediate
use of. I borrowed the second card just
to make sure the second camera was
OK-as-shipped. Then I packed it back
up and returned to using the camera I
had with me all along ... but I forgot to
unborrow the card. IOW I'd left it in the
[new-ish] camera that I'd repacked. So
now my main camera is down to just
one card. So when I was mailing some
pix from that one card, and forgot to
retrieve it out of the PC, now my main
camera has NO card at all.

See ?
