So I guess they should take a play from the US playbook: stop taxing the rich and big business, reduce benefits, and just keep on borrowing.....

It is a paraphrased quote.

What he did say is:

During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.

Which would be like claiming Johnny Cash said he shot a man in Nevada just to watch him die.

Dont believe me, read a book.

According to Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn (The men who actually did invent the internet):
Quote:
as far back as the 1970s, Congressman Gore promoted the idea of high-speed telecommunications as an engine for both economic growth and the improvement of our educational system. He was the first elected official to grasp the potential of computer communications to have a broader impact than just improving the conduct of science and scholarship ... the Internet, as we know it today, was not deployed until 1983. When the Internet was still in the early stages of its deployment, Congressman Gore provided intellectual leadership by helping create the vision of the potential benefits of high speed computing and communication.
as far back as the 1970s, Congressman Gore promote... (show quote)

[quote=Los-Angeles-Shooter]Years of lax policies and overspending are finally catching up to the Golden State.

You should have stated this is an article written by Victor Davis Hanson.

I have lived in Ca for 60 years. If I was younger I would leave this state.
To watch the change over the years is mind bogging.
When I moved to SF I marveled at how clean the city was. Now it is a s...hole and i would not like to walk in the city alone at any time of day. I left my heart in SF 30 years ago when i moved north.

The OP is a textualized listing of issues facing California. To lesser extents the same issues face other States to other degrees. So it is a list of “things that need doing” - how California deals with it is what matters. The simple equation is that ‘State services’ cost money, so that reduced taxes equates to reduced services - which one are you willing to forego. Wildfire fighter capability?
