He is kind of boorish but also seems to know his stuff.

SIGMA lenses of the past have been pretty craptastic, decent glass with high mechanical failure rates.

I have no first hand experience with SIGMA lenses made in the last 25 years so I will refrain from judgement.

I do have one SIGMA 400 5.6 APO that was a gift from about 20 years back that is pretty decent stopped down to f8, but it is rarely used.

I think after years of working on camera’s repairing & testing, he really knows his photography equipment. He won’t put you to sleep with facts. If I’m buying a new camera or lens I look up his utube comments first.

The Angry Photographer is not stupid, far from it; and he knows camera gear and lenses. But, he enjoys being judgemental, often negative for effect (Sigma lenses). He is arrogant to a fault, but with some good reason. Like any camera guy, one should watch him for information and knowledge, but take him with a big grain of salt.
He loves to hear himself talk, and spends far too much time repeating himself, re-phrasing what he has previously said; and then saying it again. He will talk for 15 minutes to say what could be said in five.
I will continue to consider his opinions after suffering the through his presentations.

I don't own any Sigma lenses, so I can't speak from experience, but PhotoPlus Magazine sometimes rates Sigma lenses above Canon lenses of the same types, so Sigma can't be all that bad.

I agree 100%!! Even if he had something valuable to say, which he doesn’t, he has buried it in his misguided antics. The people here who have real world experience with these products are the best testimony to there value.

I’ve watched most of his posts. He is entertaining. He is spot on with his recommendations. I’ve purchased several lenses based on his reviews and I’ve not been disappointed. The Nikon 200-500 comes to mind and that one is stellar. He was one of the first to tout the Fuji 16 mm lens. No regrets in buying that one... it is a phenomenal lens! All in all he is my go to guy on recos.

I agree. He is a little bias as he favors what he shoots with. Nikon, Fuji. He seems to think some of Tamrons latest lens are better than Nikon's .

I'm pretty sure some NIKON/NIKKOR lenses have been made by TAMRON.

That ol boy is so engrossed in Nikon, that he doesn't like anything else. He does have some good hints and tricks, but he is an angry man.

Not just Nikon. I bought my Fujifilm X-T2 and Fuji lens based on a video that was dedicated to all Fujifilm.

I respectfully disagree. Theoria Apophasis (aka Ken Wheeler) is one of the most knowledgeable and professional photographic bloggers currently publishing. I’m sure others will disagree, especially those whose gear he demeaned. He makes a practice of acquiring lenses he plans to evaluate and does not accept favors or gratuities from manufacturers or major vendors. In short, he is nobody’s “boy” and nobody’s fool. He is aware he has many detractors and, frankly Scarlet, does not give a darn. He calls it like he sees it after detailed in-depth analysis. I respect his opinions despite his rants.

I agree, Wheeler is one of the best. Regarding that bafoon posted, brings to mind what a parochial school nun used to say "consider the source."
