If you want to be realisitc, go to ebay and do a "Watch" of similar items for a week. That's a perfect indication of how much they're selling for. Of course with ebay, it all depends on who is bidding. Identical items could sell for $300 on Monday and $200 on Tuesday.

If you sell to a dealer, he will have to allow for his profit and any work he does on the items, so the price will probably be lower.

I buy and sell quite a bit on ebay, and when I put something on there, my object is to get rid of it and get some money. I know that it will be gone in a week, and I will get a decent price. If you want the maximum price, advertise it for sale somewhere and wait for someone to respond. The problem with that approach is ebay, KEH, etc., selling at a lower price.

Suggest comparing prices on craigslist, then decide.

The good news is that six months after you sell the equipment, no matter how you decide to go about doing it, it won't matter to you anymore. Decision made, executed and life goes on.

Go to ebay, cick on advanced search, type in your item, click on the ended auctions box option, click search and it will list the sold and not sold items with price, depending on volume of the item, for the previous 30 days or so.

Most used equipment resellers will offer you 50% of the original price. Then they will add a 25% markup to that 50%.
This will give you an idea, more or less of what to expect.
You could look for each item in eBay.

I like what you said. Second guessing can be a curse.

Hey Doc ..... in a perfect world the op's reasoning is good but we do not live in a perfect world.

I think that he will do better if he lists most of that equipment separately ..... I'd wager that most folks looking at that model are not willing to drop $1,000 at once.

And it's been suggested that he searches eBay under advanced search for completed auctions to see which items actually brought how much.

In my area people are trying to sell used equipment for the same price as some dealers in the area, but the dealers offers a short period of guarentee. So for the same price I would buy from dealer. Just something to keep in mind. You are entitled to get as much as you can & the prices suggested by Grandpa seem fair.

LaughBrian is dead on with this one in his comments about Ebay. When doing a price comparison always go to the left side of the listings page and check the "Completed" box to see what price people got for items that actually sold. It is a great tool in that regard. What people are asking for items (cameras, lens and other equipment) often is quite high and often do not sell so to compare your item to that item is often a false comparison. Always compare to sold items. If you have never checked the "Completed" box you are missing the boat as to what realistic prices items are going for. novots

Looking at what has sold on eBay they range from $300 to $550 for the body and both lens. I think my $400 is a fair price.

Hey Doc ..... you have more options using numerous filters if you click on advanced to the right of the search box at the top of every auction page ..... just sayin

Sounds like you're in the ballpark. Good luck, hope you sell it fast so you can move on to new toys!

If you go to KEH, remember they will give you a wholesale price. You can add more to make it a retail price. That's what they do.
