Did a shoot the other day using two cameras. I always shoot in RAW. My files from the 50D show in the camera (which are JPG thumbnails), but the computer says they are corrupted. Tried the same camera again in JPG and no problem. Tried a different card . . same thing. Tried the card with corrupted images in a different camera . . no problem.

What the h*** is going on? Anyone experience this problem . . and is there a fix?

Have you tried resetting the camera back to original setting?

1. Select [Clear Settings] (third to last menu under Menu).
2. Select [Clear all camera settings]
3. Select [OK]

For a detailed list of which settings will be affected, see page 45 of the manual.

What program are you using to view the raw images in? and did it work with the 50D raw images before this started happening?

I own a 50D also. I have not had a problem like yours, but I have experience with computers. It looks to me the RAW file camera storage software may be corrupted. This will stop the camera from storing photos in the RAW format. You may want to try the reset instructions in the manual. Should this not work, I would look into re-installing the firmware. Firmware is the basic camera driving program. I don't know if a update has been published for the 50d, but take a look at the Canon website. I am assuming you do not have a problem outside the camera, meaning with processing programs.

Yes . . and I have three computers with Lightroom 2, CS4 and Bridge. The results are the same on all three computers, and all three worked before this shoot with the 50D

Hi Weddingguy

Could it be that you have corrupted your Canon Raw Codec file on your computer, Just asking? The reason I ask this is if you have installed some new software it could have caused this. By the way you can download the newest one from Canon it’s free.

Two of the three computers have XP Pro and the third, and newest, has Windows 7 Pro. All are producing the same rsults. I am using a card reader to download. Normally I download through Lightroom, but it is not recognizing the RAW files. Having said that, the files from the 40D and the 1D work on all three computers normally. 50D JPG files also download with no problem.

Would the "Canon Raw Codec file " be the same for the 40D and 1D cameras that work fine on all computers? Would there be a way that the "Canon Raw Codec file " could be damaged on all three computers?

Thanks for your input. I'm a photographer, not a computer guru, so a lot of this stuff is new to me.

Nope it's not your Raw Codec file I did know you were using 3 computer's. Are you sure your 50D is set properly in the settings for Raw or Raw + Jpeg and you are sure you’re not using Jpeg only. Again just asking?
