I like the colored version best
I’m a b&w fan, but I’ll have to go with the color on this one.
I prefer the black and white. To me, the blue flannel shirt is distracting. I think I'd also prefer a closer crop to emphasize that weathered cowboy face and lessen the impact of the tree branches in the background.
That said, both are mighty fine images.

Does the black and white say more than the color? Which works best?

Hmm . . . I'm usually a color fan but on this one I definitely prefer the black and white. I see I'm in the minority but what's new?
The color by all means. It brings out his character while the b&w is rather bland in comparison.
Thank y'all for your opinion.Good to know we all like it our way. I met this man by chance and couldnt resist. The look says who and what he is.
As a side note; he's retired Coastguard, cattle farmer, among other things.
I was trespassing but forgiven. Thanks all
for me the black and white image is the stronger tells his story in greater depth . There will always be a place in my heart for B&W images ... nothing wrong with color either but they both have their moments
Like the color. Kind of shows the "life lived" more. Both are good and you can't go wrong with either.
I tend to lean towards B&W but you may try adding some sepia to it to give it a little age

Very good Frank, both of them.
Thanks for looking and responding
