Hello everyone. I'm an amateur, wanaby semi pro and enhance my skills to be respectable in the photography world. I've taken pictures for several years starting with film, then digital, and now better cameras. Recently finally received my D800 and very excited (latest camera was a D200). Now I must learn, learn, learn. Going to a co-workers daughter's wedding Saturday and will take surprise pictures trying to add to the hired professional's shoot. I would very much appreciate any and all advice with the D800 best video settings and any stills settings advice as well. It is definitely an ongoing learning process. Thanks to all.

Good Morning Bret - Hopefully I can capture a unique shot or two at the wedding Saturday and/or the reception or sometime during the day. My wife has already warned me to not get in the way of the hired photographer because the bride's Mom would never forgive me.
My intentions are anything but causing trouble or interfering with the structured procedures during the event. I honestly would like to move around during the ceremony and not just be stuck sitting in a church pew. My advantage is we are members of the church where the wedding will be held, so I know my way around fairly well. Wish me luck!
Welcome to the UHH

Hi Tom...welcome to the hog. you will find so much help here. dont worry... the best advice i can offer you is to STAY OUT OF THE HIRED PHOTOGRAPHERS WAY. dont stand next to him and shoot. you will make a bigtime enemy. Go to different tables, and shoot the people sitting there. also, get lots and lots of shots of the friends. the professional will get the families.
