To answer your question it is possible to do the photos on the TV without them being a slide show. I use the USB port and click on the folder I want. You then have the option to start the slide show or manually advance the pictures one frame at a time. You don't need to hook up a computer or any other device. The USB serves the purpose well.

I do it with USB flash drives. The TV even lets me set the speed that the photos change.

For those of us that are challenged here, what would those steps be? I have a smart tv and Win 10.
Won't be home until tonight to look at computer for exact steps but basically just opening up Win 10 (forget exactly what section) and pair your computer with your Smart TV. Just Google and sure it will come up - just one or two steps. Then in future it is just a right click and select Cast.

BTW you can also cast from your Smart phone if you wish. If in my man cave I sometimes cast UHH that way - look at photos on 65" screen versus phone's 5".

The Delkin HD Digital Photo Viewer looks just like what I want but I struck out with my goggle search on where to buy. Everything Goggle brought up was 4 to 5 years old. Is it still made? Can you help me find a seller. Thanks

I have a slide show of assorted images of mine that have been running non-stop 24 hours a day for almost 6 years now. I occasionally change the images a little but have almost 300 on a CF card at any one time. I have them currently on a 10 second scroll, but that is totally adjustable and can be run in order or randomly. You can also manually forward through them via the remote, same as a slide projector. Fades and wipes are possible too but I personally do not care for them most of the time.
I use the Delkin HD Digital Photo Viewer. It accepts SD/CF/USB and has a remote control for setup and functions. It will attach to a TV via HDMI or RCA jacks. Only $39.95, its a great device and you don't have to do anything with your images but just store them on your media and go!

Hi MT Shooter - this sounds exactly like something I could use but I have tried B&H, Adorama, Amazon and even the Delkin website and can't find it anywhere. Is it a older device that is possibly not manufactured anymore? Any help would be appreciated.

It was discontinued in 2018. Maybe I am the last store that still has some, I don't know for sure.

If you have one I would like to purchase it. Let me know how this can be arranged. Thanks

A lot of smart TV's have HDMI inputs as well as USB etc. I connect my laptop via its HDMI port to my TV using a male-male HDMI cable. What I see on my laptop screen is what appears on the TV only much larger. You'll probably have to fiddle with the TV display menu or whatever to make to TV's aspect ratio match that of the laptop. This way you are not limited to only slideshow. Anything displayed on the laptop appears on the TV.

Who uses TV's anymore.
Within 10 years people will only watch on their phones or Ipads.
I know some 20 somethings who have not turned on a tv in the last 5 years.

Both of you are getting better use out of your TVs than me. Time to put that on my To-Do list along with learning Photoshop CC and Premiere Pro CC.

I’m in my 70s and haven’t owned a tv for 5 years. ( got rid of it when the grandkids stopped watching it. I myself hadn’t watched it for 10 years)
Now I’m thinking about getting an inexpensive all-in-one computer to use to use for picture display.

I put the pics on a DVD disc. I find if the individual shots are too large they will not be shown so I save in reduced (50%) JPEG size. I save by number so I can keep them in order. I start with 1-9 then a1-9, b1-9, etc. I found if I saved above 9, e.g., 11, 12, etc. these would then fall behind the 1, likewise 21, 22 behind the 2. My DVD player will handle only up to 500 shots. If I want to do more I put them on a second DVD. Sounds crude, cludgy, but it works!

If you have a SMART TV and can plug in a USB you do not need to downsize. I shoot with a Nikon D850 and don't need to change the size to view them on the TV. You can manipulate the images to any order you want on your computer first. You can add and delete images at any time. Much better work flow and you do not have to use a new DVD every time you want to change. It is truly very simple with the USB, just plug it in to the TV and use the remote to select the source. Then watch as a slideshow or manually advance each picture at your leisure. You can even put a slideshow with music on the USB if so desired. And if you want you can put different folders on the USB drive and have several viewing options at the ready. I just leave the USB plugged into the TV unless I have something new to add. And the larger the TV the larger the picture (kind of obvious).
