I shot this last fall in Great Smoky Mtn NP. Such a lovely area.

Interesting.......an Orton effect?
I processed the photo in Aurora HDR then returned it to Picasa and softened it there. I quite like the soft look.

Sorry, but I don't like it, it's way overkill, looking at it hurts my eyes!
Thank you for the critique but would you please explain what you mean by overkill?

The contrast and colors, they are to the point that they look fake!
Thanks for your input. I know what you mean. I was looking at a painting the other day, I think it was called "Guernica" or something like that. The people didn't even look real. The artist had no idea what he was doing. Actually, I wasn't trying to make it look real...I was trying to make a pleasing image. Sorry you don't like it but some folks do. I enjoy brilliant colors. But I do think I will reprocess this image and repost it...just to compare. Thanks.
The brighter file is the original. The other is the rework. Too much color? Too much softness? I like both versions but my wife tells me my only good taste is in my mouth. Comments, please.
Is the original in focus? I get purposely making it blurry for artistic reasons. Like the painting "starry night" the composition needs to tell a story for it to work. But just being blurry and then blowing out the saturation in hopes to make it work, well just doesnt work. Aside from that its a good pic. IMHO what would have made it better would have been knocking down the upper most limb on that downed tree in the foreground. The one jetting up into the bush. For some reason it diverts the eye straight to it and breaks up the flow created by the lines in the pic.
Thanks for the comment. Both photos were softened in pp.
did you apply the Orton Effect to these photos/
No. I just softened it in Picasa. I'm just learning to use Aurora HDR...but I like it so far.
