While people say the Tamron G2 and Sigma Sport are similar in IQ, and better than the original Tamron or Sigma Contemp, note that the Sigma Sport is more weather resistant and, therefore, much heavier.
the Canon @ 400mm cropped to 600mm is sharper than either the Tamron or the Sigma.[/quote]

Thanks for doing the research.
I have the G2 for Nikon
It is great
You will be a very happy camper
It took VERY little research. As a Tamron AND Sigma dealer I already knew the facts.
I bought the G1 used a few years ago. Nikon model attached to a D7200. It's a great lens. I use it hand-held for birding 95% of the time with no issues. I'm 63 in good shape.
This lens has earned a nickname, "the dust pump", and mine has lived up to that. It has yet to affect IQ as far as I can tell but it's getting pretty bad. I called Tamron about a cleaning and they quoted me $250 which is about what I saved buying second hand. If I was the original owner it would be done for free on warranty. Consider this when buying used.
The G2 is supposed to be much better in this respect and If I was to do it again I would buy the G2 new.
What I really like about the Tamron G2 verson is it's close focusing capability. I shoot a lot at the Patuxent Research Refuge - North Tract just outside Laurel, MD where I live. That land was used for live-fire Army training before it became a research refuge. There are some trails that are safe to walk on because they have been cleared of live munitions. For the most part you are restricted to standing on the roads. The close focusing ability allows me to shoot closeups of plants from my car on the road. By the way, I use the lens on my Nikon D700 and my D750. I also have the matched 1.4X converter.

Can't go wrong with a Canon 100-400 MkII. A bit more money but you will be happy, I promise. The images below were shot with that lens and the 1.4 extender but on a full frame so that lens would be actually longer on a crop frame than it is on my full frame with extender.
One for sale here at the Hog.

Errr... how do you zoom with this set up? I mean that is what the OP was asking about.
I have been shooting the Tamron SP 150-600 for over a year and am very happy with it. I have found it to be very sharp throughout it's range. Here is a shot from my truck window, no tri-pod. I would recommend this lens.

I saw this lens on Amazon and read about 20 reviews. They all seemed pretty positive. I know I can count on the group for some information.

Without being able to download the photo we can't really tell how good it is. As is, it's not impressive. Try re-posting with the download option.
OK Let's see if this works. I would appreciate your honest critique.

Still no joy! You simply have to select the " store original " button.
See if this works. Just don't post many photos on this site. Sorry.
