Thanks MT, I never really took the time to learn LR and am very satisfied with the CS6 you sold me. Still running strong and do not see a reason to use LR. Gary

When you lose a spouse and remarry you realize that time is important and life is short. You spend it trying to leave a legacy by giving time and love
Not berating anyone but just different priorities

You are right. Some people just can't stop being pompous asses.

HI I am a photographer that works mostly in LR and haven't kept up with the new additions in Photoshop. Here's a new one. If I have taken a photo where I want to remove something in the background, let's say a telephone pole or car. I usually use the stamp tool, but PS has a better way now. Start by using your lasso tool and make a selection, then click on edit/fill, then on the top under "contents" click on the down drop and select "content-aware /OK.

It's like an adaptation of using the "spot remover" in that it uses the surroundings to fill in. Hope this saves everyone lots of time and I will have to spend more time in PS learning the upgrades.

I love content-aware in PSCC

Thank you. I found that lazy comment to be a bit disingenuous. When you “survive” a deadly cancer you quickly learn what is important in life, and learning PS isn’t one of them.

BTW, you don’t really “survive” cancer ‘til you’re dead from something else.
Just sayin’...

Dive in and learn Photoshop Creative Cloud piecemeal. Editing skills will accumulate. Plenty of tutorials exist online.

I can say from experience that once a photographer feels even only half comfortable in PCC, he or she will never look back. PCC puts unmatched photo-editing power at the fingertips. Most all the editing tools involve only a few simple steps to invoke.

Bear in mind also that PCC comes with Adobe Camera Raw -- a most powerful photo-editing program in its own right.

Both programs used right bring out the potential of a photograph.

I use content-aware fill all the time. You can use any selection tool and if it doesn't work from one direction try it from another. It is a perfect eraser.

Hi Jim, I have gone through the same losing my spouse of 20 years at age 43. My late wife left me with the conviction that life is for the living and to enjoy. I enjoy photography and Photoshop makes it that much more fun for me. This not a priority nor is all the golf I play. What is a priority for me is my new bride, our children and grandsons, friends, travel and peace of mind. Time is important and life is short so if you can, try to live each day like there is no tomorrow and like you will live forever too.

Actually it has had that feature more or less since at least Ps CS5. It does not work well in CS6 that I am still using. Content Aware is one feature that will eventually drive me to subscription Ps CC (& Lr). Once I learned Ps (first in classes) I found Lr to be a toy in comparison (once I tried and then dropped it). Yes, probably an easy toy -- Ps is not easy. Even at that I do a lot of my PP with ACR.
What is ACR?

After you have your selection done expand it by 3 pixels prior to going to content aware fill. Works even better! This is one of Scott Kelby’s tips

Rather than being too lazy, many are too impatient.

How is that done? I often use feathering where it could help but that has been changed in the latest versions. We used to be able to feather plus or minus now it is just minus.

Expand and contract is under Select→Modify, along with feathering. I have always just entered a plain number of pixels using feathering. I'm not sure what plus or minus feathering would be.
