Full Moons and Sunsets.
I greatly appreciate all who quoted me or commented on my pics and/or my attempts to provide meaningful feedback to the extent of my ability. I've always felt part of the "middle" here: many folks are more talented photographically and/or in their eloquent writing/teaching so there is much I can aspire to, and for those who are newer to the hobby, I have been able to support. What more could someone ask for than that kind of comfortable home?
Sometimes my comments in main forum may be quoted more than others simply because I include a photo or five
I feel strongly that photos often aid the discussions, not only for examples of what's being discussed, but to make it easier for a reader to decide if the person writing is worth listening to.
Love you guys!

I see you have shared many photos of bald eagles and egrets. There is a vocal contingent of folks on UHH who complain about all the bird photos posted here. Ironic?
Since you're relatively new, you may not have had a chance to check out all the features of the site, including "newest pictures" - a link accessible at the top of every page. Those thumbnail images will help you filter out any subjects not of interest. There are also many specialty forums where you will be unlikely to stumble upon moons or sunsets. Click on "all sections" at the bottom of the page to browse.
And lastly, consider hosting a discussion topic about how to make moon or sunset photos something other than "identical." Please join the small group who would like to see UHH be about learning/sharing/teaching/inspiring and don't align with the grumpy old folks who are here only to complain. Let's learn together!

Linda, your opinions and photos never cease to amaze me. They are great, I wish I had some of your knowledge of photography. I joined UHH to hopefully learn how to use my older crop camera and learn photography and do some PP in LR. I did not understand bracketing until reading some post on this forum, now I just have to learn to how to combine them in PP. I started going to Anthony Morganti's website thanks to a post on this site. So I wanted to thank you for the comments you have made on some of the photos, which are very few I have posted on this website.
Thank you and all of the UHH members that are on this site helping the younger and older folks (like me) learn photography.

Joe W.

Nice photos, and a very well stated welcome. You have my vote for chair of the hogs’ welcoming committee . RJM
Here the lunar winds have deposited some surface scaling onto the burned ridge and spur line. Regrettably, lunar scales retard development of both deciduous and coniferous trees so it will take 60 or more years to see significant growth. Often there is evidence of lunatics being deposited along with the scaling. (Sorry I don't have photos comparable to Linda's)
Linda, beautiful shots!

Well, "Birds of a feather", you already know. Grin, JimmyT Sends

Thank you ‘LindafromMaine’ - I always enjoy your comments.
Totally agree that when taking a sunset or sunrise turning around is a good move. Happy I remembered to do that or I would not have gotten this sunset shot.
This is my first post. I have been reading the UHH posts daily since last July.
I have been thankful for all the great insights and vast knowledge that is shared here.
In particular, Linda's comments and guidance have been very helpful.
After seeing her pictures of composing full moons, sunsets etc I was compelled to reply.
Great captures! And please continue to share your knowledge and insights.
Thank you,
I was finally successful in adding a moon to my Baltimore skyline where it would never naturally appear because the view over our harbor faces north. Finally figured out how to use layers in photoshop and the CC version's eraser tool works like a charm to make the background black sky transparent and show the dusky deep blue of the skyline photo. Next clear night of a full or nearly full moon I plan to compile a series of moons with 105mm and 300mm lenses in various positions in the frame to keep in a "moons" folder for later incorporation into other photos. From there I will do the same with various moon phases so that I have considerable flexibility. Fun to come. Pat
