I flew on Aluminum Overcast about 10 years ago.. was flown by EAA. It’ll be hard to top that experience. Recently flew on Ford Trimotor. Love the old birds.

The sound of the radial engine is unique and powerful. There is no mistaking it.
A B17 that low would give me goose bumps

Whenever I see one those ww2 birds, all I van think of is all those hundreds of men who died flying them, so that I can sit on my ass safely. I often wonder if I would have that kind of courage. Thanks for a good photo. (next time you get a chance - watch " 12 o'clock high" A great movie about the 17 and the men who flew them

Nice catch Tim. The B-17 has always been one of my favorites. The N909 is here for maintenance right now. I am hoping to catch it when it takes off. The company that does the Annuals, usually has the B-17, the B-24 and the B-25 here all at once. When they all take off in formation, it is a sight to see.

I've always been a Military Aircraft fan since elementary school. Building models, reading books, then ended up 26 years active AF and 15 contracted with the AF. 41 years service. Never did much else after high school.

There was a B-17 crashed on my rural property August 11, 1948. Berryton KS. Would be nice to know the name of the plane(if any). I have news clippings from Kansas City, Lawrence and Topeka news papers. Yes there were lives lost.

Tim, nice photo. You must be staying in the Mesa, Az. area, as that's the home of Sentimental Journey. It's based at the CFA Headquarters at Falcom Field.
