I have 2 questions

1. Is there an adapter that will let a sony lens fit on a Canon Rebel T6i camera?
2. On an old laptop I found a couple thumbnails of photos I took probably 15 to 18 years ago with a Sony Mavica camera. They come up as a .mix file. For the life of me I have not been able to get them to open. I have downloaded several applications that were supposed to open mix files but didn't work. Any thoughts or ideas.

Thank you.

A mirrorless camera has a shorter distance from the back of the lens to the sensor, aka flange focal distance. So attempting to adapt a Sony lens for a mirrorless body to an EOS body would lose the ability to focus to infinity as it would act like an extension tube allowing focus only very close to the camera. If you were to find such an adapter (whether for a DSLR or MILC Sony body), you should also confirm if the adapter includes electronics to retain autofocus from the body to the lens.

As for the .mix files, I have heard of software called reaconverter that will batch convert mix to jpg. I have not used this so I am only passing along what I have heard about.

It is a Microsoft Image Extension. There are free programs to download to open your files - only one is needed. You just have to try them out.

You can do a Google search on .mix files and find what software will open them. I noticed that it mentioned Microsoft Picture It and Microsoft Digital Image software. I have brought both along from "way back" and they work, grudgingly, on my Windows 10 PC.

Google "convert .mix file," and you will get a number of solutions.
