Luminar is busy again with a free upgrade for its recently released Windows & Mac editions:
We’re happy to announce the release of the first free update for Luminar 3, which brings more for both Windows and Mac users. For the moment, this update is available exclusively to users in Australia and Canada. If you aren’t in either of those countries, don’t worry! You’ll be able to update Luminar 3 tomorrow. Here’s what’s new: macOS:
• Stability improvements. Fixed 20+ crash issues. • Fixed issue with folder destination for catalog. • Fixed crashing on quit. Windows: • Stability improvements. 40+ crash issues fixed. • Fixed language change issue. • Fixed issue with folder destination for catalog. • Fixed internet connection issue. • Fixed crashes in Lightroom/Photoshop plugins. • Export/Share moved to file menu. • Fixed issues with duplicated images.
Why the hell did they release it with so many problems. I downloaded the trial version, created the library of almost 4TB of pictures, (5 hours to create) and then it would never run. Crash, crash, crash.

I own/use Luminar 2018, version 1.3.2. (5560)....running on a MacBook Pro. How is my version different from Luminar 3? Will I be getting the free upgrade?
Having been through numerous software upgrades while in the business world, I will just say that testing before Any upgrade can Never cover all situations. Bugs are ‘normal’ and usually addressed rapidly.
Kudos to Skylum for providing Luminar3 while Not removing Luminar2018. My Luminar3 did not work perfectly, but I still had 2018 to use while the bugs are being addressed.

They are no different than any other software company. Is everything you do perfect the first time?

If you have Luminar 2018 why are you not reading the emails you get from Skylum?
I just downloaded the free update. Right now, I can't checkout the changes, but I am pleased that they got this out fairly quickly. My biggest hurdle will be getting the hang of the libraries. But there will be time in the next few days for a deep dig into that topic.
My only problem is the slowness off processing and that might be due to my system.
Yes, it might be a bit slow, however, after 10 years of various Photoshop programs, this works for me 98% of the time very easily compared to Photoshop. Sure, more tools in Photoshop, yet the presets with the ability to tweak are really good.
I use Luminar 2018 on my MacBook Pro (late 2013), with good results. I downloaded the Luminar 3 Installer, selected "Install" and then...it gets to 100% and freezes. See screen shot. Nothing clicks through - any ideas? /Users/seahawk505/Desktop/Screen Shot 2018-12-29 at 10.10.35 AM.png
I like the idea of adding a library feature to Luminar...but so far I’m unimpressed. It needs quite a bit of improvement including importing LR catalogs and edits before it can replace LR.
