Thought I would try this B/W thing just for jollies. So I went out and gave it my best shot (not to put too fine a point on it) and came up with...

Really nice set, i find number 2 really interesting i can't tell for sure what it is. My first thought was an evergreen or weeds in the wind? Whatever it is i love the effect. The turtles are neat is this a common thing in that area or were you really lucky?

I took these at the quarterly Presbytery meeting that was held at our church.

These are old, back in the early 80's I think. The shipyard where I worked had a contract for oïl rigs for a company out of Houston,TX and I snuck my camera in ''just in case''

pg. 21

Where were you standing when you took that shot? The height gives me twinges just looking at it!

I did take some shots today (all from inside - it snowed, it poured freezing rain and then rain. Now icy roads, fog freezing - all that stuff) The only way I could get a "camera monochrome" was to change WB to tungsten. Thought it was almost sacrilege to convert a cardinal to BW but I tried it. On download you can see a lot of detail - like raindrops on feathers, tail.

Pg 18, a cardinal in b & w , shame on you! Lol, he came out really nice! Your area has had rough weather this year, stay dry! Thanks

p13 Sue this whole set is amazing! No.1 might be my pick for nostalgia sake. I grew up in Northeastern Ohio countryside and sights like those are etched in my memory. The covered bridges on back roads in Pennsylvania (which was only 1/4 mile down the road). Your b/w shots don't have the bridges, but they have the spirit to evoke the mental pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you - so glad you enjoyed them. This part of Ohio is hilly and rural with plenty of good shooting sites within just a couple miles of us.

Pg 18. Pat, I presume you're referring to your Nikon D750 not being able to set to monochrome. I have that model as well, and the images below depicts how I set it to shoot monochrome. If you want to try it, I'm not sure it's the correct way, but it's how I do it. However, the program I use, (PSE 2019) to convert from RAW (NEF) to JPG automatically converts in color and I have to select the B/W option.

BTW, I like your Cardinal the best, even if it is in B/W. Nice detail!

Go to shooting menu, use the OK wheel by pressing the right side, select Monochrome.

Pg 19, another nice set, nice bug and the lights are great. The third one has a lot of interest and the band is that an old pic or a recreated era? Nice, thanks

Well there were ladders and also the cranes would take us up there but where there was work to do it scafolded. If I remmeber right there were three of these ''pillars'' like in no.1 The highest I worked was 533'....Later on I fell off of a 40' ladder !

Thanks Irene - thinking he might be a candidate for "almost BW" or selective color.

Testing the black & white mode on a refurbished generic camera is morning. Bottles located in an old shed right under a window in direct view of the 9:00 est sun rise.
