On the night of January 20/21, there will be a total eclipse of the moon (not to be confused with Bonnie Tyler's total eclipse) visible in its entirety, to North and South America. It starts at 9:37 PM, becomes total at 11:41 PM, has its greatest effect at 12:12 AM and starts to exit totality at 12:43. Come my daily UHH mail the next morning, I expect to see some great photos from you Hoggers skilled at night photography.

Can't wait for the opportunity, already marked on calendar. Being new to nighttime photography and dslr with Canon T6 do you have any tips, hints or advice to capturing good photos?

For some of us, mother nature will be kind. For others, cloudy days will occur. I hope everyone has a cloudless night for this.

Ohhh sorry... I should have mentioned these are all Eastern Standard Times so you'll have to adjust, accordingly.

Exciting news.

What’s the favored app to use to determinne the path of the moon that night?

What aperture, SS and ISO are recommended?

Where’s a good place to park oneself to get NYC landmarks in the frame?

Let’s have a UHH meet up there!

Wasn't Bonnie warbling about the total eclipse of the sun?

Not an area of photography in which I am highly skilled. I will go out and look at it and then enjoy your shots the next day.

Here in West Michigan it seems the sky seldom cooperates with astral events. Keeping fingers crossed.

and for what it's worth, the song is Total Eclipse of the Heart
