Got myself a Nikon D800 from a camera shop in Bozeman Mt. an eBay find. My first FX and I love it. And wow only 12k for miles driven. This is my work for the past couple of weeks as I burned through my vacation. Only have two primes a 28 and 50 older Nikors. I have settled right in and never felt uncomfortable using it like I do the D7100. I will use DX to get extended zoom for now.
37 megapixels are a lot and my processing time has almost doubled now. Enjoy your holidays everyone here on the hog.
great shots. Are the colors really that amazing?
Mine is a nikon 24/120 f4.

They are all 3 bracket HDR shots @ +1,0,-1. The colors are as close to what I remember with fill light added after the processing. I control the aperture according to the lighting conditions from f2.8 to f8 ISO100 on all shots.
We are having an extremely warm Christmas season, actually 44F now and we have had a good couple inches of rain. All the moisture has created some beautiful prairie sunrises more like spring so yes the colors have been vibrant in person. Thanks.
Very nice shots. Unfortunately, in my part of Texas the sky rarely shows those wonderful colors. Thanks for sharing.
The D800 is a great camera. My D800e produces RAW images in the 75mb range. There is something a bit odd about the appearance of some of the images posted.
Edit: I just read your reply regarding HDR. That's what I referred to as odd. That explains it.

Nice shots.
I could use a new body but alas I'm doomed forever to the one I was given.
Happy shooting
