A great voice I have enjoyed since the 60s.
Me too, Mike. Thanks! I was very fortunate to be at Birdland in the early 60's when Cannonball Adderley brought her onto the stage and introduced her to the audience. Fabulous experience!

A great talent, on to a better place (I bet they have one heck of a great band in heaven).
She had a beautiful voice and her version of "Guess Who I Saw Today? was a heartbreaker. I also love her album Today My Way.
Loved her deep voice. She considered herself a "Stylistic" singer, but her sounds for Jazz were equal to Ella's in my mind. MARKGOLF, was the Birdland you saw her at in DC (Georgetown section)?
I was fortunate to play her show once.
A class act in all respects.
I was fortunate to run audio on her show for two weeks at Walt Disney World's "Top of the World" supper club. She was warm, friendly, personable, with a great show. All the musicians loved her. A sophisticated, class act in every respect.
