Caineville, Utah
Utah is probably the most diverse State there is, with the exception of an ocean.
Caineville is west of Hanksville and east of the entrance to Capitol Reef. Yellow Kyenta formations and Gray cliff with rugged slopes.
The gray area (middle) to the left is the highway, the background was shot just off the highway in order to get as sharp an image as possible.
The foreground image is on the north side and is a completely different environment from the south side of the road. Red Sandstone.
Foreground was shot as a closeup in order to layer the image as one composition in order to capture the diverse sides of the highway, a little hiking was invovled. Just trying to show the diversity and areas that most people drive through while looking for something more spectacular. Cainville doesn't exist any more except for an abandoned stone house.
Update, the foreground image and background image are approximately 1/2 mile apart. Layered in Photoshop. Notice that the shows in the foreground are different from the shadows in the background.
Yes Utah is an amazingly diverse and beautiful state. Pretty cool composite but you might try reversing the upper image so the sun shines in the same direction as the bottom photo. As shown they contradict each other. The color could also be tweaked. Top looks cool and slightly green while the bottom is warm.
Nice vertical landscape--good job.
Thanks for the tip, I tried to keep the colors close to the original, the mountain scene is or around November. The foreground is where more sunlight reaches the landscape, therefore less snow acumulates. I will switch the upper layer, I hadn't notice the shift in shadows until I actually posted the image.
Utah is heaven for photographers and railroad enthusiasts. Love the place.

What a great eye! I bet the reversal would really make the photo work. (Didn't even notice it myself until I looked at the photo again after reading this comment.)
Any state is great if images are manipulated to get the final shot. When one really explores an area many opportunities are revealed. How well are we looking?
