Then what? You will have a live squirrel in your live trap. Is there a next? Do you let him go, kill him for dinner, what? I am not trying to be rude but simply asking if there is a plan further along than catching the little thief.

Trying to stop this guy from getting to our bird feeders is a lost cause.
Instead, we'll just admire his intelligence and athletic skills.
great shots...he is quite an acrobat!
We had the same problem. at our Wild Bird center store where we bought seed they have a bird feeder that’s squirrel proof. But they can still jump on it & try & get in. So we gave in & feed them too. We bought a squirrel feeder box. Attached it to the arbor, it has a top, we fill it with nuts. The little buggers are smart they figured it out. Now as long as we fill it everyday they pretty well stay out of the bird feeder.
How about moving the bird feeder about a foot or two further from the trunk of the tree.
Also, vaseline what ever is holding the feeder to the tree up top so he/she can't shimmy down it.
Works in my yard.
Stew or Fried. Squirrel AM GOOD !
If you want entertainment, put the feeder on top of a pole that has a slinky (you remember them) around it. The squirrels will repeatedly try to climb the slinky, only to slide back down after reaching about 2/3ds of the way up the pole. Great fun -- and the birds get the birdfeed.
Dennis what you do with the squirrel after you catch it is up to you.

Yes I realize that. But I was asking you. Personally, and with respect, I have never tried to catch squirrels. They, just like bigger mammals, are easier to eat if I kill them first. Otherwise they put up quite a fuss, biting, kicking and scratching.
Have a wonderful day,
Dennis
Brome makes great well built feeders. My squirrel buddys just hang out on the ground and wait for the sloppy seconds.
They are incredible ...nicely captured.
Pesky and clever little guys. I have similar problem with minimal success

We have a squirrel stopper (for a better word) that we purchased, & they actually work very well. We have had these for a long time & haven't had a squirrel in our feeders since. it is very dark right now, but I will post a pitcher on UHH tomorrow (12/15/) & the caption that I give it will be "SQUIRREL STOPPER". You can probably pick them up at a hardware store, or at a feed store, or maybe Walmart, etc. & they are relatively inexpensive. They usually come in a greyish color, but for some reason or another, I spray painted mine silver. They are made out of plastic. Hope that this will help.
Thanks Lelon
There ya go. Live and let live.
Shots like that always make me smile. Thanks for posting!
