I rarely use Canon 7d m2 now. But I have many Canon lenses. Would it be wise to sell them all and buy Sony rx 4 which is bridge camera with small censor? Thank you for your advice.

It would be useful to understand your issue with the 7D2 that keeps you from using it.

If you can justify buying the Sony without selling your other gear - that would be ideal. I use Nikon full frame cameras and I have a bunch of great lenses. However, I also own an RX10M4 and I have to tell you the image quality is pretty good, as is the camera's handling. I have not printed anything from either camera, but I think the quality from the Sony will be ok, though I don't expect it to match the results I get with my D810, especially on small prints, where the viewing distance is typically shorter and high resolution and image quality is important. Since it is a 20 mp camera, I am sure I can print a 40x60 from it and the image will be more than good enough.

Thank you for your input. I own Sony A7rII which I use if I need to print nice quality images. I think of selling Tamron super zoom lenses. Too heavy, too bulky. The idea of having all in one camera seems very appealing to me. I read very nice reviews about this camera. I would like to see some sample pictures.

You’ve tried some macro, BIF and IR photography in the past. Where do your interests lie at present? My only concern with the Sony is that it has a fixed zoom lens with a fairly limited (but very useful) range. Will the available FLs be appropriate for the type of work that you’re currently interested in?

That is exactly what I did. I was a Canon shooter for decades, had the 7D MK 2 and an 80D and a bunch of L lenses. I sold it all, took about a year and bought a Sony RX10 IV. I never regretted it. I shoot a lot of low light venues, stage plays, and ice hockey games. The results are excellent and I don't have a backache lugging around all the equipment. Good luck.

I own the 7D mk ii (as well as the Mkiv) and the Sony DSC 100v. They severve different purposes. The 7D is for BIF with a Tamron 150-600, the Mkiv is for landscapes and tge Sony is for walking around while travelling taking record pictures Kust my take.

I recently sold all of my Canon kit, including a 5D Mk. III, and virtually all my L lenses because of issues related to weight subsequent to back surgery. After a considerable amount of research and hands-on tryouts, I bought the Sony RX10 MkIV. I shoot mostly landscapes, BIF and sports and so far I'm very satisfied AND what a weight difference!!

I switched to RX10 iv from Canon due to weight and complexity of carrying and changing lenses in the field. This is my go anywhere camera and is the one I use mostly when I travel, though I have other cameras. If you don't print large posters, the quality is very good. It is excellent for BIF too.

What he said.

For what it's worth I have the RX10m1 and a Canon 7D. For convenience the Sony wins. No lenses to lug around and change and a built in zoom 2.8 lens. When it comes to IQ however, the Canon is at least the equal of the Sony. I do realize my cameras are older versions of what is being discussed here but I once owned a RX10iii and other than the zoom limits I saw absolutely no difference between the RX10 & the RX10iii. I would buy the Sony, keep the Canon. and thin out your lens collection to one or two favorites.

Here is the deal... Buy the new camera and see if you ever take out the dinosaur... And, then sell it!

Cheers!

The foregoing is pretty much my way of thinking. I have the Canon 7DMkii with Canon 100-400L + 1.4 Extender, a Canon 6Dii, an assortment of other Canon lenses, and a Nikon B700 bridge camera. The B700 is certainly not a Sony RX10IV, but is a pretty nice little camera with 60X magnification (more than the Sony RX10IV, I think). I see the bridge camera as being complementary to, not replacing, the Canons. For best image quality, I would practically always prefer the Canons in one or another of their possible configurations, but sometimes it simply does not seem convenient to "unlimber" and bring them into action.

I would first go to a store that carries it to see how it feels in your hand and how intuitive the menus are. Then you might consider renting to get the feel of it in the field. That should make your decision much easier.
