Best place in NH for fall colors would be up in the North Conway area.

New England is a big place - N. Conway is great - but don't forget about Vermont. Mountains are less rugged but towns and views are perhaps more pleasing and open.

Sounds like a fun trip and the hardware is sufficient. I did 90% of my shooting with a 17-55 f/2.8. And most of those at the wider end of the f/l range.

We were up that way last year from Portland to Chicoutimi and back but were a week too early for the best color. You are starting your trip about the time we headed back home and you should have a better shot at the full colors.

Enjoy. It's a lovely part of the country.

Pick up a Vermont Life magazine and you'll get an idea of whats you have in store. I'm from White River Junction (great name for a little town) and remember, fondly, the fall colors. Its hard to match the vision of hardwoods when the sap starts to make its trip down. If you get around Hanover New Hampshire look for a restaurant call River Side. You can try some of those fried clams and "chowda" Sarge speaks about.

make sure you do the Berkshires in western MASS. The Mohawk Trail & Quabbin Reservor. This is truly Gods country in the fall. Watch out for the Peepers on the Mohawk.

Have done it a number of times. Beautiful. Are you renting auto or tour bus?

I had issues with fall foliage on my d90 re auto white balance. Found cloudy setting brought the colors out well

Be sure to capture a couple of covered bridges. There are many scattered around.....you could Google for images of them online to find locations near your proposed route.

Dont forget Mt Washington and the cog railway. Its a train that has cogs which grip the track to climb up a 30 degree track to Mt Washington a 6288 foot mountain on a clear day gives u a view back to the ocean. Wicked neat. (Maine talk!) The kankanmagos (spelling - no spell check on my phone) highway is amazing trip that time of year. (Really anytime of year.) Dont forgot to stop and view the Saco river and many other things in that area.

Also in new hamphire you have a cruise on the big lake around Laconia. And in maine a criuse on the casco bay gives you 5-6 lighthouses. If you go the bailey island round trip tour.

Have a great time. Let us know how it went.
