If I send someone a link to Google Photos, do they have to agree to give Google access to all their photos? And how about the same thing with Flickr?

Does it not say on the google place. I always refuse access to any of my data, especially pictures.

Not sure. I sent about four dozen people a link to an album, and one person said he couldn't see it because he didn't want to share his photos with Google. I'm trying it with Flickr.

I would guess both require access to one's picture which they can automatically download and then offer then up for use by others at a fee. Old photos are quite valuable for the style of clothes worn in them long gone days.

Jerry,
I have a google photos account and they only have access to the photos I share, not my library. There was a pop up that loaded asking if I wanted the desktop uploader that would archive and backup all my photos, but it is not a requirement.

The link from Flickr is just like sending a URL to any page here at UHH. There's no additional requests for access to data by the recipient.

Google is far too nosey, dictatorial in its advertising, and deceptive about censuring for me. I avoid them where ever possible just like a bad neighbor and life goes on just fine.

I sent that person a link to Flickr, and he was able to see them without giving any permissions.

I have a calendar app on my Android tablet and recently I started getting reminders from Google in my Gmail. Brrr.

Jerry, I have a slightly different problem. I have a folder of 131 images of flowers. When I go to upload them into my Google Photos library, the uploading process stops and freezes up at image #56. I never had this problem with my old Dell but I do now with the new one. I have more RAM in this newer Dell so I am thinking it is not a memory issue. I don't have a problem if I am uploading 20 or so images. So if the uploading process freezes up and does not finish, I can click Stop and still get a Google Photos generated link but the link is good for only the 56 images that were uploaded. Any idea on what am I doing wrong ? Perhaps someone will see this post and chime in.
Thanks, FiddleMaker

I can’t imagine how it could be related to the amount of DRAM you have. My guess (and it is only that) is that the 56 is a single upload limit imposed by Google photos, or more likely, there is a time-out on one of the processes involved. Is your computer or HD set to go to sleep or go into standby mode after a number of minutes without any keyboard/mouse activity?

I think the problem could be a corrupted file.

Two years ago I had no problem uploading 150 images which took about 3 minutes if I recall. My computer does go to sleep but only if there is no activity for 10 minutes or more.

Yes, that could be a problem. I never thot of that. I have had this same problem with images from other subject folders as well. Not just this flowers folder. About a month ago I was trying to upload JPEG images from a birthday party and had the same problem - uploading stopped at image #15 (out of 75).
