Don't take offense, but most of the posts I see about whether or not an online vendor adds sales tax to the bill come from people who are trying to avoid a tax. For that reason people tend to assume that when you ask about the tax collection many will assume you fit into that category. If you are not in that category and only asking for information purposes, my apologies for jumping to conclusions.

DirtFarmer, no, you gave an informative answer. Unlike Mr. Wallace’s rant. I don’t think you would have anything to apologize for. You made no assumptions, and you didn’t denigrate the OP.

Excuse my French, but rjaywallace, why are you such a presumptive little bitch?

I’m not presuming anything at all. The OP’s question is identical in all respects to three or four other posts that have appeared recently on UHH. I summarized the previous answers from those posts and spouted them back to the OP. Was I kind and gentle about it? No. Do I regret my sarcastic tone. No. The OP does not appreciate the difference between charging a tax for the benefit of the vendor and collecting a tax for the benefit of a governmental body.

The OP complains that he already pays too much tax in his life; I truly understand and sympathize. That is a problem for all of us. But the tax is real, it is legitimate and we’ve got to pay it if our state, county and local government says so - at least until folks change those governmental laws and regulations.

I get annoyed by all the repetitive questions on UHH. Admin should compile a list of The Most Common Questions and, before anyone is accepted as a member, they should be required to study the list and sign a statement saying that they did so. That would cut out at least, say, 75% of UHH duplication. I get really annoyed at UHH members who think nothing of spending $3,000-$8,000 on the latest/greatest camera and then complain about paying sales tax or about the manufacturer’s outrageous $60 battery. They should either choose a less expensive camera or suck it up and be an adult about it. End of rant. Hope you, your family and all the UHH members have a very nice holiday season.
