Image Editing Tutorials

I have a Canon Rebel T6 and it came with an image editing program called Digital Photo Professional 4 (DPP4). Now, don't laugh, I also have Abode Photoshop Elements 2! I want to learn how to correct my images using the DPP4. I've seen and heard a lot about Lightroom and don't want to cough up the monthly fee. The capabilities of DPP4 look pretty similar to Lightroom. I want to learn how to take an image and decide what I need to do to correct it. Are there any books or online tutorials that you can recommend for me?

Linda, first off, please don't approach editing software as a way to correct an image. The correction should be performed at the time you click the shutter.

I would first suggest doing a search on youtube for Digital Photo Professional. 4 is probably similar to any of them and so, any videos would be a good place to start. Another approach would be to google Digital Photo Professional tutorial. That will most likely produce some good starting tutorials.

First and foremost, it would seem like your best investment might be to upgrade your Adobe Photoshop Elements from v2 to v18 (the most current and robust). There are many tutorials available for Elements 2018 online and on YouTube. There are many knowledgeable users of Elements here on the UHH forum. Best wishes.

I can't not take that bait!

Many, maybe most, consider the capturing of light data the first step in processing an image. We did that with film in a darkroom and we do continue to do that with digital processing.

That said, there remains a few that have a transparency workflow like used when Kodachrome was king. Even with that, shooting multiple exposures was common to insure a good result. Lots of (expensive) slides were discarded.

Shall I say "enhance" an image?

Back to the OP's question.....

MMC answered it in the first reply above. He provided a link to a four part series provided by Canon. The rest of us went off track.
