You are doing just fine. You are prioritizing focusing on the eyes and nearby feet. That is normally as it should be.
The lighting is also good. The lighting is well diffused. With a flash you will want to add a diffuser.

Thank you and I'll definitely keep at it. I'm having a hard time getting anything else done because I'm so fascinatied with it.....nothing is safe from my new lens.....Lol!!
