I'm in the market for a good bluetooth photo quality printer that won't break the bank. I use a Mac computer, not that it matters, but would really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
A. T.

Wouldn't Blue tooth be wireless, or not necessarily?

Okay, so if I wanted to print photos from any Blue tooth device through the printer. I guess you're saying that the printer doesn't necessarily have to be hard wired to the computer, correct?

Yes. Someone may know of a blue tooth capable printer, I do not. Several will work with WIFI. Personally, I use a Canon Pro-100 as a dedicated photo printer. The printer itself can be caught on sale
(with rebates) for anywhere from about $80-$130. A set of ink cartridges goes for $125.

As far as I'm concerned, Bluetooth aways means a wireless connection. I've never been happy with the color of Canon inks compared to Epson and HP. All of them function with about the same quality results, for around the same price. If you want to print larger then 8.5"x11" you'll have to lay out a lot of money.

Not really. You can buy a Canon Pro 100, which will print 13x19, with 50 sheets of glossy 13x19 Canon paper for $119 after rebate from B&H, and it may be even cheaper elsewhere (and yes, it is WiFi wireless). Hard to find a better deal on a photo printer.

What you should look for is a wireless printer that supports AirPrint. You Mac and iOS devices will see it on the network and be able to print.

B & H is offering the Canon Pro 100 printer for $369 with a Canon rebate of $250 and a store rebate of $50 using coupon code PPEBH18. The printer comes with a full set of cartridges and a box of 50 sheets of 13x19 Canon paper. I don't know about bluetooth, but the printer can be connected wirelessly. I have one of these printers and am very satisfied with the print quality. The software that comes with this unit is excellent. It offers a printing program, Print Studio Pro, that is much quicker than printing through Photoshop and is an add-in to Photoshop.

I also print using the Canon Pro 100, and have been very satisfied with it. In our local print shows and competitions the quality of the prints produced is on a par with those of anybody else. And I print wireless from a MacBook Pro from the comfort of my living room easy chair!

The rebates for this printer come around periodically, but this particular offer of a $250 rebate from Canon ends on Oct 31st. I have heard of people who buy TWO of these printers at the sale price just to get a spare set of ink.

We were gifted a Canon 1300 and love it for its simplicity. It uses dye sublimation so you never fear the dreaded out of ink signal. Granted it only prints 4 X 6 inch prints but they are all we want 90% of the time. Everyone who comes with iPad's, iPhones or even SD cards gets prints with no problem.

In my home wired & wireless network, I use a Lantronix xPrintServer. With this on my network, I can wirelessly print from my iPhone/iPad to any printer hardwired to my network. Thus, if you already have a printer, this may be the answer rather than buying a new printer.

I use Espson printers and my prints have always turned out "spot on" color-wise. I print all of my own images as long as they are being printed smaller than 13" x 19".

I think what others are trying to say is that bluetooth is wireless, but the way most printers are they aren't bluetooth but they are WiFi which is another type of wireless. Or, just remember that bluetooth is not synonymous with WiFi but both are wireless.

That being said, most printers today are wireless and most use WiFi. One of the most popular photo printers today is the one someone mentioned already, the Canon Pixma Pro-100 which is always offering a good rebate which brings the total price for a brand new wireless printer that uses 8 ink cartridges down to an affordable price point of about $150 after rebate. This printer also does a good job on paper up to 17x13 paper. It's a 13" wide printer. I had one and it never let me down. Now I have upgraded to the Pro-1000 which uses 12 print cartridges and prints up to 17" wide paper.
