Alex Karas riding the Long-Horn Steer; "Hey, you can't park that steer here."; "Candygram for Mr. Mongo, Candygram for Mr. Mondo," and, of course, the campfire scene.

Mel Brooks - a brilliant satirist or a crusty curmudgeon? Does it matter? lol
My favorite scene from Blazing saddles and favorite actor spotlights Madelin Kahn and Cleavon Little in the hotel room. We lost her to Ovarian cancer in 1999. She was only 57. She was IMO brilliant and as talented as they get.

The Producers, the 1983 version "to be or not to be", Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, and others. My friend and I saw Blazing Saddles 13 times and Young Frankenstein 12 times that included a double feature of the 2. Could never stop laughing

I hated this film. When my wife and I were first dating we went to see this movie. We agreed to leave after no more than 15 minutes. This was the only movie that I started to watch and then left the theater before the finish.

You must watch it all the way through. It is of truly great cultural significance. By offending everyone, it offends no one — by making a strong statement: Lighten the hell up!

It helped lots of folks to learn to be more tolerant. And it was just plain funny! It skewered just about every common prejudice and stereotype of its time.

You just reminded me that no one seems to know how to make a good movie anymore.

Fake sex, fake puke, F-bombs, tequila shots etc. There seems to be a formula you must follow to sell movie today.
Maybe the youngsters enjoy it but us oldsters are jaded by all the great movies we grew up with.

Hey, I love films from every decade since they’ve been made. Blazing Saddles is a classic, right up there with Casablanca, Citizen Kane, To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal House, Star Wars, and 2001: A Space Odyssey (and dozens of others).

It’s all part of the bizarre and beautiful pageantry of life. BS is a huge commentary on the culture of the mid-1970s, as much as it satirized the earlier century.

Can you list any from the last five years? I'm desperate for a great fun movie like B.S. or the Blues Brothers etc.

Not like those. To be honest, most of the films I’ve seen recently, other than Star Wars/Star Trek and Black Panther, have either been at 48-Hour Film Project events, or they were documentaries and series shows on PBS, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.

The most recent long-form Sherlock on PBS Masterpiece Mystery was particularly good.
