I read about the software patch to fool Mojave to allow installation on older machines. Requires a metal processor and obviously no guarantees. Other then possibly runnythe latest version of Photoshop think it’s most prudent to keep what I have. Hopefully there will b a Mac Pro in 2019

Thank you for the clarification.

32-bit programs will run under MacOS Majave. See an overview of this at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208436 , which includes: "While developers optimize their apps for 64-bit compatibility, Apple is notifying customers when they are using an app based on 32-bit technology. This is done via a one-time alert that appears when you launch a 32-bit app. In macOS Mojave, this alert appears once every 30 days when launching the app."

Has anyone completed the new upgrade and, if so, did you encounter any issues with LR, PS or others?

Yes, and it went without a hitch.

I keep telling myself I'll upgrade the next time I get on. Or maybe the time after that. : )

I have been told that Microsoft Office 2008 is not compatible with Mojave.

Unless you have a real reason to upgrade I wouldn't.
A few weeks ago I got tired of the 'upgrade nag' and decided to upgrade from Yosemite to High Sierra on my 2011 MBP.
Downloaded 6 gigs worth of files and tried to install it.
Started and then stopped with a 'error in file' message.

Ok, download another copy. Nope, I 've already downloaded it according to site.
Called Apple, no joy. Guess I can't type fast enough for them to think I've abandoned Chat.

So I'l continue with Yosemite.
Problems restoring from Sleep mode. Then problems just starting.
Reset SMC per YouTube instructions. Worked for a while . Had to do it several times over a 2 week period.
Two days ago I made the mistake of letting go into Sleep mode.
An hour later discovered the MBP hot as a firecracker, fans spooled up to max.
Shut off, waited for it to cool off. Turned on, get the chime, screwy display and that's it.

Think I have a mBp. The B stands for Brick.

My 2009 macpro will not upgrade. Perhaps time to replace but unit has worked flawlessly since initial purchase. Perhaps not.

I also have a 2009 MacBook Pro. Everyone tells me I should upgrade. It does everything I need to have done. I can find no reason to spend 2K plus.

Be careful if you have older accessories such as printers and scanners. I just upgraded my Mac Mini and MacBook Pro from Sierra to High Sierra and now my older Epson R2400 printer will not print. Still trying to find a solution.

I updated my Epson printer software (do not have your 2400, but 3460 and P800) and all's well.

Just make sure you have the latest PS and LR, Mojave only runs 64-bit applications. If you want to check your current applications for 64-bit v 32-bit go to the following;
>Apple Icon
>About this MAC
>System Report (button lower left)
>Software/Application (from the list on the left)
Adjust the window so you can see the 5th column on the right, this is a Yes/No 64-Bit notation of each application on your Mac.

Wow, thanks for tip.
I just did as you suggested and was surprised at how much of my software would not run. Granted many of these programs are not used everyday and there is probably an upgrade of some kind coming, but I see a lot of time being spent getting them to work when they are needed!

"Mojave only runs 64-bit applications"

WRONG. "At our Worldwide Developers Conference in 2018, Apple informed developers that macOS Mojave is the last version of macOS to run 32-bit apps."

Yes 32 bit programs still run on OSX Mojave today. But you will get a message every 30 days saying the developer needs to update the program.

Since the 32 -> 64 bit transition has been ongoing for 10 years, if a company has not upgraded by now, they may not. In a future version of OSX, 32 bit programs won't run. When? I doubt even Apple knows the answer to that. If they do they are not saying.

I tried to upgrade my iMac27 (late 2015 model, Retina 5K, 27-inch from Sierra (10.12.6), 32 Gb RAM) and it failed miserably. The screen reported that the upgrade couldn't be finished and to select "restart". "Restart" started the whole installation attempt over again. Tried three times, same result. Tied up my computer for hours and I ended up doing a complete re-install of Sierra from the back-up. I am still working on getting all my preference reselected! Never going there again!

Bummer. Mojave supports your computer so it should be possible to upgrade.

What is your internet speed? Sometimes a slow or intermittent internet connection can result in those types of issues.
If that is the case, you can take the computer to an Apple store and use their internet, or else have them install Mojave, if you like.

Question. If you had a complete backup, why do you have to reselect your preferences?

Followed your (spraguead) good instructions. On my updated non- subscription version of Lightroom 6.14 it shows 64 bit. (Version is shown as 1149743 which matches what the file shows)
Where could I go to check further that this will really run, before I upgrade to Mojave?
