"Shutterbug" magazine subscription transferred to "Sound & Vision"

I knew that "Shutterbug" was ending and was lazy about trying to get my money back for the balance of the subscription. Today I received "Sound & Vision" magazine. When I went to the web site I found it was a sister publication to "Shutterbug." I called the 800 number, was told my subscription was a "transfer" (from Shutterbug). This magazine and the other sister magazines are all about audio, so I finally cancelled. The customer service representative was very pleasant and accommodating.

Just a heads up. It is a shame the way print is dying; sign of the times.

I knew this was going to happen --this happened to my other photo magazines that is why I don't renew them

Interesting that yours was changed to Sound & Vision when mine was transferred to Outdoor Photographer.

I also have received Outdoor Photographer as a replacement for Shutterbug. It's not great, but I'm okay with it.

I was already an Outdoor Photographer subscriber. That could be why I received the Sound & Vision.
However, when I was on the web site I did not see Outdoor Photographer as a sister publication. Could have missed it.

I would also think the interest in cameras also has an effect on product-specific publications. How many 25-35-year-olds do you see ligging cameras or camera bags around? How many 25-35-year old do you see taking pictures/video with cell phones? I believe, the times they are a changing.

Alas.....the death of the "print world" has paralleled the death of genuine journalism. Sad.

Evolution can be a real bitch, sometimes.

"Genuine journalism" has been dead for a long time. It has just come to light in the last couple of years.

I’m also an existing Outdoor Photography subscriber, so I received Sound & Vision. As soon as I got an issue, I contacted customer service and requested a refund. Took about three weeks and the check showed up. I still find it hard to believe that it took over fives months to resolve this issue. BTW, as far as I know, OP is not a sister publication to all the A/V mags that Shutterbug had to share space with after the sale.

I also got sound and vision--it’s a complete waste to me.

Yup. I wonder what is being taught/learned at the University by students pursuing a major in Journalism?

Yea, I just love to read about those $10,000 speakers🙄. While I am interested in audio/video products, I am not interested in items anywhere near that price range.

At the time I didn't know Shutterbug was folding . . . out of the blue Stereophile shows up. I don't have any interest in $10,000 turntables so this mag is useless to me.

Interesting, Shutterbug is sending me Outdoor Photographer, I have been pleased so far and plan on continuing this magazine. And, my old subscription was honored by them through November 2020, how cool is that.
And, I just got off the phone with them and they are going to split my subscription between Pennsylvania and Florida. So when I get to Florida next month my Outdoor Photographer will be sent there cause the Post Office will not forward magazines because they do not consider them first class. So, I am set for a couple of years.

I also receive Outdoor Photographer in place of the discontinued Shutterbug. Not as much overall photo industry coverage but much better than S&V.
